Kuttichira Pond - Pond in Kozhikode - Kozhikode, India

About a year and a half ago, the Kuttichira pond underwent a remarkable transformation, thanks to the redesign and renovation efforts by NIT, Kozhikode. The rejuvenated space was dedicated to the public, offering a serene escape in the heart of the city. Flanked by the majestic 1000-year-old Mishkal Masjid on one side and engaging historical panels with pictures and commentary in both Malayalam and English on the other side, the pond exudes a captivating aura of cultural richness and heritage. One of the most impressive aspects is the water's pristine cleanliness, inviting people from all walks of life to gather around and savor the peaceful ambiance. Just a short, delightful 5-minute stroll from Kozhikode beach, the pond has become a cherished spot for many during the evenings. In this charming setting, several individuals can be seen leisurely enjoying the refreshing breeze or taking a leisurely stroll along the pond's edge. It has truly become a cherished destination where locals and visitors alike come together to appreciate the blend of history, nature, and community.

The Kuttichira pond has been re-designed and renovated by NIT, Kozhikode and dedicated to the public about a year and a half ago. One one side is the 1000 year old Mishkal Masjid, one another side is the history of the area presented on panels with pictures and commentary in both Malayalam and in English. The water seems to be quite clean. It is about 5 minutes walk from Kozhikode beach. Several people can be seen here in the evenings, enjoying the cool breeze, or taking a walk around the pond.

Great place to go evening or night.three sides of pond are facing towards road and having seating facility. The only sad part is people are littering on the pond.

These few ponds like in mananchira, thali are keeping the balance of Kozhikode's ecosystem. Great and beautiful places. May be we all should keep the place more neatly. Could see alot of garbages, bottles,covers and leftovers in the premises and pond.

Beautiful pond and opposite to it there is an old masjid which is build in 14th century, 1340. If you want to see old wholesale market then you have to walk a little behind the mosque. It's worth going there to see all kind of wholesale things

Great place to spent your day, the water is clean and you can Jump/swim etc. The pond has been renovated recently and there are places near the pond where you can sit and relax.
