Thrilling an the best experience anyone can have. There is water available at the top, the trek is medium to difficult but East as compared to Madan. You can stay at the top. If you love trekking and adventure then this is for you.

Known as the toughest range trek in Maharashtra located at the height of 4500 ft containing 3 forts Alang Madan Kulang. All 3 forts need long traverse. Total distance is 36km. Trek for kulang fort is easy compared to other forts. Still need a high endurance to survive the heighted stairs. Places to see caves, water cisterns, beautiful nature.

This is the fort in AMK trio that can be climbed without any help of special climbing equipment. But that doesn't mean that it's easy. The last patch of 45 minutes is made of exposed rock cut stairs. The steps are narrow in some places needing additional care if you have a bulging backpack. The path from Madangad to final ascent of Kulang is also treacherous. Although it is mostly level, there are couple of scree patches that need extra care. The rest of the path is through narrow, flanked on both sides by bush. But the views of Alang and Madan are great after you reach the top. There is a good flat spot near a cave and water tanks right next to the final opening of the steps. Since this is the final leg of the trek there's a well earned big relief on trekker 's mind making this a great way to conclude a challenging trek

One of the troika of Alang-Madan-Kulang. This fort has the highest climb from base to top in Sahyadri ranges. Out of the trio forts. Only this fort can be climbed without technical help. To reach the top one has to climb rock cut stairs, some which are broken are blown away by the British. There are few remnants and water tank on fort. One can stay in caves for night (30 people capacity). Very little history is available about this fort namely AMK along with Kavnai and other Nasik forts were surrender to Peshwas in 1760. The Peshwas gave to the British in 1818.

Kulang fort (kulNg gdd ) is located in the Igatpuri area of Nashik district, on the western side of the Kalsubai hill range. This fort is adjacent to the Madangad and Alang forts, all of which were constructed to protect the Nashik-Kalyan ancient commercial road.In 1760 the fort were probably ceded by the Moghuls to the Peshwa along with many other forts in the Nashik region. In 1818 Kulang along with the other nearby forts were captured by the British forces. The British, however did not destroy the steps of this fort. There is a base village Ambevadi or Kurangwadi, from which it takes about two to three hours to reach the fort. The path passes through a dense forest area, the Kalsubai-Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. There is potable water on the way and plenty of clean water on the fort. There are spacious caves on the fort which could accommodate up to 100 persons. There is no fuel wood on the fort, so it is preferable to carry fuel wood or a gas-stove from the base village. There are few rock cut cisterns and a cave on the fort. There is no significant construction on the fort, except for a Wada made from stone masonry and the ruined main gate. The pathway to the fort is made of rock cut steps. From the top of this fort Kalsubai peak, Patta, Aundha, Madangad Fort, Alang Fort and Ratangad forts are easily visible. The region in and around Kulang Fort experiences hot summers and cold winters and hence, the best time to visit this monumental beauty is from September to December and February to March.
