These rock cut caves are beautifully located on a hillock that oversees the Arabian Sea with 27 of them lined up on 2 levels and there are plenty of water tanks outside them. Didn't give the 5th star because the road to access the caves can be made better. These caves are a must visit.

Very nice and serene place to visit. The access route is via highway, but there is a shorter one is you search "kuda caves" on map ie this particular spot. This path is through bushes and trees and involves about 15 mins of good hike. There are 26 caves in two tiers and the upper set gives a fabulous view of the region around. Rest all info you are looking for is available in other posts and also at the premise. Certainty one of a kind in konkan region.

These are ancient Buddhist caves said to be excavated during the first century BC. The caves comprised of 15 compartments spread across 3 levels which are connected well by the stairs. The caves are a home to n number of bats that make these caves stink very bad even from the outside. Ironically the area outside caves is well maintained, and not the caves themselves. Overall a great experience of Buddhist history.

2 levels of Buddhist caves which seem to still unexplored and untouched. Wonderful trek in the midst of dense forest. Reaching the caves is fairly easy with normal elevation of the terrain. Maybe slightly tough for older folks due to non uniform steps made to climb a wall. Caves in itself are marvellous and you will be spellbound by the effort that must of gone to build them. You can still see the Buddhist inscriptions in ancient Pali language. View from Level 2 of the caves is breathtaking. Must visit.

The tranquillity resides here is beyond comparable. Not many people visit this gorgeous site, yet government has maintained it nicely. The cool breeze will relax your senses and the ancient carvings and sculptures will keep your eyes glued to the stone walls. One note, visit the site with responsibility and respect. It's a nice piece of history, lets preserve its sacredness.

its a really nice caves, beautiful structure of buddhist culture. Kuda Caves are located in the small village of Kuda, on the eastern side of the north shore of Murud-Janjira in south Konkan, India. These fifteen Buddhist caves are small, simple, and were excavated in first century B.C. The verandah of Chaitya has several reliefs of the Buddha, carved with symbols of lotus, wheel and Nagas. Later in 5th / 6th century the Buddhist branch of the Mahayana took over the caves and added their sculptures. The first cave has ancient writing on its wall. The sixth cave entrance is adorned with elephants. The thirty inscriptions describe donations by lay Buddhists and Buddhist monks. must visit place.... silent, beautiful and senic...
