Felt very young elephants are being tortured by tying both their legs. Maybe it's required. But it's sad to see They are building a better enclosure to let them free and will be completed in a year. Boating is available, and was nice. Had Kappa and Kanthari chutney in their outdoor canteen setup and it was superb. You need to walk almost 2 kilometers. If you have someone unable to walk, you can ask the staff to allow your vehicle to go inside till the boating. But you will need to bring the car back and park in an outside parking spot. The staff is super friendly. Got to know from an old lady staff that the Govt is paying only for the caretaker of elephants. Salaries of other staff are from the ticket sales. So please visit the place to support them. The road toward the place is good except the last two kilometers.

Kottur ecotourism is the place for elephant rehabilitation. Got the opportunity to visit too many elephants of various ages. Parking is free and a new parking area is building in front of office . The ticket for each individual is 40 Rs. The small elephants are cared well and spaced well. But unfortunately some elephants are kept in such a way that they can't even move. We can understand that there should be a reason behind this..but watching an animal tied in both direction without any movement was tough. There was so enthusiastic elephant named 'podichi'.We got oppurtunity to watch their bath also. There was boating experience and canteen too. There was also option for stay for family's and bachelor's. Overall it's a good spot who loves elephants and to spent a good family time.

How this place is called a sanctuary for elephant? elephant separated, in chain and not really a sign of how this is a center for animal rehabilitation. Not free to even move, this looks like the usual man made for exploiting animals. I was so sad. such a little walk and all those animals in chains. Never come back and I wish this place close. Do not go there. You can see in the pics animal attached to chain, they go out only to get washed. I wish these people could experience this life as well and say how nice it is.

Lovely place to spend a day with family. Currently under renovation but still offers some great experience with elephants. We can see them roaming around bathing and taking food. Safari is not available but boatinf in the dam is a nice experience. As per the people there renovation will complete within 3 months it will offer much more entertainments. The road to the place is also under construction. (As on 20.11.2023)Monday is holiday, but still can see some elephants. It is better to visit there on rest of the days in the week. Ticket charge for adult is 40Rs/-

Had a lovely day trip to the elephant rehabilitation centre in Kottur! The place is beautiful, nestled in the heart of Kattakada Taluk, Trivandrum. Although it could use a bit more development, it's still a great spot to spend a day. We arrived just before 11am, which I'd recommend for the best experience. We got to see 4 majestic elephants during our visit. The entry fee was affordable at INR 40. The road to the area needs improvement, but there's ample parking available. The facilities were convenient - they have a canteen, washrooms, and seating areas. Don't miss the eco shop where you can purchase local products like pepper, cardamom, clove, and more. It's fantastic to support the tribes in the surrounding region. They even offer boating, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the visit. All in all, a worthwhile trip for nature lovers and those looking to explore a unique part of Trivandrum. Can't wait to see how this place develops in the future! #ElephantRehabCentre #KotturAdventures

It is still not fully developed as on Aug 2023. We went with expectation to see rehabilitated elephants but the elephants were chained pretty badly - felt bad about it. They are building houses for probably staying back there but those are not operational yet. The elephant baths did not happen and we returned after seeing a couple of elephants chained to pillars.
