Koneru Center is a place not a hotel. Google maps remove the questions of a hotel. I read about this place in Telugu stories but saw it in the night a month ago. Very Center and busy point of Machilipatnam. The Center lead to Vijayawada, town bus stand and railway station. Very busy and congested. Banners of the political parties and others should be removed on its fence and make this historic point a viewable one.
My hometown is famous for communal harmony. Every year on the occasion of Dassehra ayudha pooja celebrations nearly fifty thousand people gather here to witness the festival. The centre here which is famous for Muslim festivals like Milad un Nabi, Moharram also.Apsara Badam milk is very tasty. You can't get the same taste anywhere.

At the center of that traffic circle, there is an obelisk. The obelisk bears the stone inscription that it was erected by the people of Machilipatnam in honor of George Thronhill Esq, MCS, British collector at that time for his leadership and heroic rescue services during the great cyclone of 1st Nov 1864. The word "Koneru" in Telugu means Temple Pond wherein the visitors to the nearby temple wash their feet and take a bath before entering the temple. Most likely, historically the current Koneru Center is located at what used to be a Koneru (Temple Pond).
Wonderful place for a small town to get all items. Special mention is BADAM milk - this is must ha e item from here if you visit Machilipatnam.

Great history about this place .. But Four sided carts, cars, selling items, flower beds, due to which this very spacious place is getting lost.. Placing banners at the center is an unfortunate thing.
