Kondajji Sri Lakshmi Varadaraja Swami Temple - Hindu temple in Kondajji - Hassan, India

Kondajji, a village situated about 18 km from Hassan, is a place where we can find the 14th-century temple of Varadaraja Swamy, also called Allalanatha. Legend has it that this extraordinarily beautiful 11 feet tall Moorthi of lord Vishnu allalanatha , a form of Vishnu's Janardana aspect, was on its way to Belur, for it to be enshrined at the Channakeshava temple complex. But the idol was more than the height that was ordered for Belur and it could not make it all the way into the temple at the right time and was apparently running the risk of being deserted. An old lady (Ajji, which means grandmother in Kannada) decided to buy(which means Konda in Kannada) the statue and establish it in a temple at that place, and hence, it is believed that the village got the name

Heard about the story of this temple, read it on the net. History says that the statue belongs to the Hoysala period. Comparatively lesser known than the architecture of halebeedu, belur, and somnathpura. Was so keen to visit this temple. finally was really lucky to visit this. Totally amazing and stunning. Literally no words to describe the feeling you get when you see the lord. One should definitely visit and have a look at the statue. Standing nearly 15 feet tall, literally so amazing to see each and every detail etched carved so beautifully. the finger nails, the robe, the amazing beautiful face. Sad to know that it was left on the road, with no place for him. Finally thanks to the elder women of this village who brought him here and now work is going on to raise a temple for him. It is a big sin to take pictures of the lord, have never done this so far, but this time i did that since i wanted every one to see the beauty of the lord, beauty of the workmanship, the grace, the charm, the height, the details, etc. It was so strange that we asked the priest himself as to how to go about it, and so kind of him to come back to the temple which is under construction to open it up and allow us to pray. full marks to the priest for sure. Consider myself lucky to have visited the temple and had a darshan of him.

God idol is very good. But no building is built. It's due to govt. Very bad shape right now

God looks so good, positive vibes, it is 14 feet tall, temple is under renovation, but you can visit if you want to see, and got to know that this idol was built to place in belur temple's Garbhagriha, since Garbhagriha was already constructed before getting this idol to belur temple ,this idol was given to one grand mother as a gratitude and later grandma took the responsibility to build temple for this idol . Not sure how far this story is true.

Beautiful place.. Not known by many... The temple is around 900 years old... The idol has beautiful carvings depicting very fine details.. :)

At a distance of 17 km from Hassan, Allalanatha Temple is a sacred Hindu temple located at Kondajji village in the Hassan district of Karnataka. The temple does not carry any architecture apart from the Varadharaj statue alone which is the center of attraction witnessing Hoysala architecture.

If you enter you will get some positive engery in your body. The statu it self get feeling you to hug and the god is in your front. 4 feet the peetha and 11 feet statu of god. This status is made of nice black stone called saligrama and the god look like all mohini lady thing on body. like leg finger ring, bharathanatyiam saree, dabu as belt and back side of head you cab see the lady hait style. the story of the temple. 750 year back the statu was made and bring to beluru temple. on the way the passing this village and the ajji was very famous for giving shoulter and food for travellers. they request to keep 2 to 3 days here. mean time they people went to beluru to check the statu can fit inside the temple. unforunitly they statu can take inside the temple. so the ajji paid the amount and kept the gos statu in there village. this temple is not much famous because it is inside the village. if you go once. sure you will visit more time. if go on tell about. there is no end

This temple is situated in village named kondajji. Not many people know this place as it is bit far from hassan(18km). The idol is around 11 feet tall and beautiful to watch.
