Bhadrakali is main idol. One more speciality about the idol is that its the same one as in Attukal Temple. They both have same origin. I dont know how it explain it more clearly but thats the case. Situated near paddy fields and a nice water stream. Have a decent space belonging to the temple and now an audiorium is under construction. Festival time is also at the same time as in Attukal Temple and 7 days long. But temple is very small comparing to Attukal with only three sub deities. Regardless the temple is growing steadly. The place is so peacefult and calms you down especially because of the nice surroundings.
Temple is famous for its annual festival in the month of kumbham. Bhadrakali devi is the main idol.Idol of devi is faced towards north as in kodungallur temple. Annual festival is still done by "kudiyiruthu samprathayam" where "tottam pattu" is done. In olden days before the construction of temple, the temple was annually temporarily made with green coconut leaves and the pooja was done on thirumudi (represents the hair of bhadrakali bhagavathy ). After construction of sanctum sanctorum the prathishta was done by thantri Brahmasree kunnathukal Narayanan potti..Afterwards the pooja has been done daily according to thantra shastra by brahmins. The sanctum sanctorum is located at one of the peace and calm places of earth.. There is a small lake nearby and a big paddy field with cultivation still going on.
