Konaje Kallu Trek Starting Point - Hiking area in Padukonaje - Dakshina Kannada, India

Konaje Kallu is situated around seven kilometre from Moodbidri on Naravi road. It would be better if one takes eatables and water as nothing would be available near Konaje Kallu Then trek to Konaje Kallu, situated about 36 km from Mangalore. A pair of gigantic granite on a hill surrounded by 119.28 hectares of reserve forest provides a breathtaking view from the top of the hill. Those seeking adventure can climb the rocks. The Konaje Kallu is situated 344 metres above the sea level. Climbing the rock is a challenge to the trekkers. It is sheer 90 degree drop from a height of 200 metres and since it is a monolithic granite block, there are no footholds. Amateur trekkers might find it difficult to climb. They are advised to go along with experienced trekkers. It is also a place of worship for the believers and paradise for trekkers. It is 'Karnika kshethra.' There is Kalabairava and Mahamayi Gudi near Konaje Kallu. The distance between one gigantic granite block to another is half kilometre. From far, it looks like a monolithic rock. There is a pond between the two granite blocks, which is called 'Boodikere,' where one gets pure water throughout the year. The narrow path leading to the Konaje Kallu made of rocks and pebbles takes you through a series of perennial water bodies. The path to Konaje Kallu is covered with thick forest. The narrow path leading from the base of the rock to the Northern side of Konaje Kallu takes you to a cave. One can also hear the sound of the conch and bells at the shrine of Sharadadas swamiji who has attained 'Samadhi' in the place. Many devotees from Tamilnadu/Kerala visit here for meditation. It is believed that there are 108 samadhis in the cave. During monsoon and in winter, one can see Konaje Kallu covered with thick mist. The surrounding area of the Konaje Kallu is a mini reservoir of the Western Ghats species and should be declared as a national ecological hotspot, say nature lovers.

Konaje Kallu is peaceful place. We have to trek and reach the top where you can visit temple and cave. They are wonderful

best place near by moodbidri, trekking is great you'll get unexpected beautiful view but you need to take right path to reach top, as there are no proper way climbing upto top is truly adventures.. highly recommend for adventurer, but not everyone able to climb, if you are afraid of height then it may not for you

If you looking for a day hiking this place is best for you. It will take you to the temple which have so many story's which get you a goosebumps. You encounter with lot of monkeys, they are cool with human unless you try to scare them. If you luck you may get some lunch in temple ( prasadam). The real adventure starts from there. Only 20+ age can go further because it's dangerous for kids and women. If you follow the arrow mark to the top of temple then you reach 25% of your adventure. Once you reach you will find two big rocks in which one shows the arrow mark which lead you to some small gudi. If you want some real thrill then start climbing other big stone which is dangerous. If you really wanna climb then keep water bottle with you, wear some flexible jeans ( jeans helps you while you coming back bcs you have to slide your butt to the rock , you can't walk down,that's only way to to survive and come back safely ) do not wear any snickers or shoes or socks that will not at all help you anymore while climbing. Keep your body lean to the rock, look for good grip and be safe. The view and sun set is amazing from top but recommended to get down before sun go down. Happy hiking

Best place to explore nature. Be careful about rocks. Bring enough water bottle to stay hydrated because there is no restaurant available. Not suitable for altitude sickness people. Do not visit during monsoon season.

Awesome place to get the trecking experience. Must Carry lots of water.. Follow the arrows for right direction. You can get a historical temple in a halfway. After you reach the temple, then start the real trecking... Very risky place, be aware of children. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the great view. You can also enjoy the sunset till 5.00 PM. There are lots of monkeys around... This place is not recommend for the mansoon...
