Kolukkumalai Tea Estate - Tourist attraction in Bodinayakanur, Kottagudi - Theni, India

At the height of 7156 feet ASL is the highest tea garden in the world. If you can reach there by sunrise, you win the race. Because to reach there, you have to have endurance and physical fitness since it's an off road drive on the jeep completely. You can choose the 9 am trip also. But I recommend the first trip around 4:30 am.

Super place for insta pics. We booked jeep through our driver for Rs.3000. Upto 6 people can go in one jeep. Our journey started at 4:30 am in the morning and the driver came on time for pick-up. The last 30 min road is most adventurous. It's completely off road travel and only enthusiastic people should go. I am deliberately avoiding saying senior citizens as I find few of them more enthusiastic than the current generation :). Please be on time to leave from hotel so that even if there is a traffic (which will be their in pick season), you will reach on time before sunrise. Every jeep takes their customers to different places to avoid rush. The most common place is the boundary of tamilnadu and Kerala. On weekends there will be 100s of people standing on that cliff. Also note that there are lots of lich. They will suck your blood without any notice. But don't panic after seeing your feet full of blood, it stops naturally. Few people may take more than an hour for this but nothing to worry. One of my Friends son got bitten by lich and blood kept flowing more than an hour so we rushed to hospital but doctor just told us to be calm and in next hour blood stopped automatically. There is a cafe also where you can have maggi omlette tea and coffee. Also they have a washroom. On the way there is the second longest zipline also. It's a very beautiful place. Do catch the sunrise. There are two options either trek your way there or take a jeep safari to have off road experience. Although the probability of you seeing the cloud beds and sunrise at the same time is 50-50.

It is hard to describe how wonderful Kolukkumalai is. This is an amazing sunrise spot in Munnar. The view from the top of the hill is nothing short of spectacular and stunning. There is usually availability of Jeeps for hire and it takes approximately 20 km, costing approximately 2500rupees. Definitely one of the best places I have ever been to! I highly recommend it!

ITS ALMOST 45 MINS OFFROAD DRIVE WHICH IS VERY GOOD AND ALSO VISIT KOLUKKUMALAI TEA ESTATE. IT IS THE HIGHEST ORGANIC TEA PLANTATION IN THE WORLD YOU WILL BE GIVEN A TEA FACTORY TOUR AND ALSO YOU CAN BUY ORGANIC TEA FROM THERE.

World's highest tea estate. After a bumpy off-road Jeep Safari of 1 hour, you reach the Kullukomalai sunrise point. Also, here the tea estate starts. The road is full of tea plantations. Only jeeps are allowed. You have to pre book Jeep to enter the area. Entry starts from 5 AM (during winters).

Last few kms on jeep are exhilarating. It's one pf the best spots near munnar to see sunrise and really soak in the beauty of the mountain ranges and tea estates.

An incredible experience, the factory is like a living museum (it's nearly 100 years old, reclaimed from colonial Britain). The workers were friendly and happy. The tea was delicious, high-quality and organic. And the view is spectacular. I highly recommend going!
