Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bagavathi Temple - Hindu temple in Kodungallur - Thrissur, India

I visited the temple and found the dress code to be quite restrictive, allowing only men in vests without shirts. While I respect tradition, I believe it's important for places of worship to be inclusive and welcoming to all. It would be beneficial to consider a more inclusive dress code to accommodate diverse visitors while maintaining the sanctity of the temple.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess " Bhadrakaili " a form of " Maha kali , Durga or Adi parashakthi . The temple has a majestic six foot high wodden idol of Goddess " Kali " The goddess is also known as Sree Kurumba means " The mother of Kodungallur . .. The temple is surrounded by several Banyan trees and Peepal trees . Guruti pooja is considered as one of the supreme way of worshiping Devi .it is done at night under Pala tree situated at the North side of the man temple . Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple Darshan is Free. Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple Timings: Morning: 4:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Evening: 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Dress Code: For Men: Dhoti or " Mundu ' without shirts or banyan. The nearest railway station is Iringalakkuda railway station .

Beautiful temple with lot of banyan and peepal trees around. The goddess mahakali gives Darshan to her devotees in the form of Bhagavathy.

One of the most famous Bhagavathi Temples in Kerala, and in India. Bhagavathi is worshipped in the form of Bhadrakali. Very powerful Goddess. It was a little crowded since we visited on a Tuesday.

Excellent Bhagavathi Temple. The place where Kannagi of Silappatikaram fame, merged with the Deity, Durga. Ancient temple with unique practices. Amazing part are the Huge Banyan Trees still around despite the developments around it. In so many visits, have been fascinated with this. Don't miss visiting Kshetrapalakan - believed to be growing and Samadhi of Vysoori (Cure for Small Pox and other such skin diseases) Visited this powerful Devi Temple once again on 2nd September 2023.
