KIRTADS Ethnological Museum - Ethnographic museum in Kozhikode - Kozhikode, India

Good stop for school students. Informative and interesting figures are housed in the museum. the clothes, habitat, places of worship, ornaments and other objects of daily use are kept in the museum. It's a must place to visit for anyone interested in learning about different types of tribes in Kerala.

It is run under Kerala government. So please don't visit on public holidays and red mark in calendar. I couldn't visit this place because I went on Sunday. I just enquire in the information counter and the officer said that they provide a museum which contains the tribal people life style. So please visit on working days. Also don't believe Google map because the map shows the second entrance which is always closed and the road is just congested. The entrance on the main road itself and near to the bus stop.

KIRTADS is a distinct Directorate that works under the Ministry of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development. The Kerala Institute for Research Training and Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (KIRTADS) is a museum located in Chevarambalam, near Chevayoor in Kozhikode. It is a directorate under the Government of Keralaand functions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development (SCSTDD) ministry. Its main objective is to carry out research that helps to promote development among the scheduled communities in Kerala. This museum exhibiting about all tribes of Kerala.

Exhibitions conducted on behalf of Kerala Government on various subjects and occasions like culture, tradition, medicinal, arts, education, skill development, studies and research, linguistic programs, teaching etc.

The atmosphere was quite good and also the facilities were satisfying. They could have add more food items of their traditional food cuisine. It'll be a good experience for the foreigners.
