Kiradu Historical Temple Parmar Era - Featured Reviews (932)
35 km west of Barmer. Took local bus. Get off road, walk approx 2 km. Easy to miss entry road. No signs of the World Heritage site. From original 100, only 5 temples remaining. Carry water food. Don't be alone. The site looks abandoned, sadly. Plenty of loafers around. Keep aloof. Majestic architecture. Need almost 90 min atleast. If not in a cab, local bus freqncy is very poor. Be ready to walk 3 km to highway to take return bus unless you have a car. Be patient as the site has just a ticket seller who may be away. Must carry water food good walking shoes.
The Kiradu temples are a group of ruined temples located in the Barmer district of Rajasthan, India. Kiradu town is located in the Thar desert, about 35 km from Barmer, near the Para, Jasai Road . It's a nice place to explore the sculpture and art.
One of the ancient 11th century temple each and every person should visit this place with out fail once in a life. One of the fabulous sculptures arts.
Not being maintained properly in spite of being Historical Importance...lovely work on stones....need proper maintenance ...no arrangement of water
This place is really good, but poorly maintained. Can become really good tourist attraction. However, the person in duty did not allow a camera inside and was asking for Rs. 5,000/- for entry. Nowadays everyone has a smartphone with camera. Allowing camera will only help publicize the place.
Even in a state of ruins, the temple looks soo beautiful. Unfortunately less awareness among people and negligence from government is slowly killing a piece of ancient history. Located just around Barmer, it's a must visit place to preserve our culture and heritage.
It's a beautiful place. But no effort from government to preserve the heritage place. The work on the temple are exquisite but weathered down. Many parts of temple have been broken down. Still the temples are beautiful and a sight to behold.
It is a beautiful depiction of ancient Indian sculpture and architecture with delicate panel detailing. This place is not very famous in tourism circuit in Rajasthan, but really needs attention of both public and protector. This archaeological heritage is not handed over to ASI, and state govt is not at all keen to maintain it. This desert temple comple need more excavation, supportive rebuilt, preservation of art work. If you are visiting Kiradu, from Barmer, try to visit as early morning as possible. U can catch visual of peacock siting on and around temples. And always search for Rampal, the Govt appointed care taker of this place if u are really interested to relish the art work. He is gem of a person and carry vivid interest in the sculpture panels on temple walls.
