Semaphore Tower-The decaying heritage & history in Andul Mohiary Howrah. British Government established this unique process of communication all throughout the Bengal for their better control in army and administration.

A historical place located in Andul, this semaphore tower was installed by the British during the early 1800s before the days of telegram. Semaphore was a method of visual communication,often called as optical telegraph to relay messages between places. A chain of such towers connected Fort william to Benaras Chunar fort. Most reviews of this place are providing rather misinformed statements.

Very beautiful Durga puja pandel is done every year. So many people every year come to see their pandel and idol during Durga puja.

This place is known as "Khatir Bazaar Girja Tala". It is a symbol of ancient tradition of this place. Located on the banks of the river Saraswati, the tower was built in the 18th century by Rajnarayan Bahadur, king of Andul, to keep an eye on the enemy. At present it suffers almost, there are various small shops next to it and there is a Soni-Kali temple at the back.

Incredible !! Evidence of great archaeological importance on British architecture. In 1820s CE, the British East India Company created the Semaphore Telegraphy for a series of towers from Fort Williams White Ball Tower in Calcutta to Chunar near Varanasi. It is a system of about 45 towers.
