A temple from which kharagpur gets its name
This sacred Hindu temple of Lord Shiv is at Inda, Kharagpur and nearly 2 km from Kharagpur Railway Station of Howrah - Kharagpur rail route. This east facing laterite built temple is sapta-ratha shikhara style with attached low pyramidal Pirha style Jogmohan . The roof of main temple is smooth curvilinear . The roof of the main temple was renovated unscientifically but the originality of Jogmohan is maintained more or less. This temple was built probably in seventeenth century. In the public opinion the name of Kharagpur town of West Medenipore was derived from Lord Khargeswar ( Lord Shiv). Religious people come here everyday for offering puja and darshana. Huge number of devotees come in Bangla Charak sankranti, Shiv- rattri and every Monday in Bangla Sraban month
This is one of the oldest temple..... from which derives the name of the Kharagpur.
