It is a captivating historical site. The architecture and design of the fort are quite intriguing, providing a glimpse into the past. As it's not as crowded as some other forts in the region, it offers a more peaceful experience for those interested in history and architecture. The surrounding desert landscape adds to the unique charm of this site. Exploring the fort and its surroundings is a rewarding experience, especially if you appreciate history and enjoy a quieter atmosphere.
An interesting stopover on the way back to Jaisalmer from Sam. The fort itself is very small but the hinter side of it has what looks like a large abandoned village similar to Kuldhara. You can access this area by foot directly from the rear of the fort by means of stairs. If you want to drive to it, you need to take a narrow circuitous road way before the front of the fort. The place lacks restrooms or any other amenities. When venturing out into the ruins, it is advisable to be in a group for safety as the area is quite large and completely deserted. At some distance amidst the ruins, across the narrow road, there is a small temple in good shape.
Awesome experience.... A renovated fort situated in Khaba village in front of the left out houses of paliwal's , Just like a gem in the desert, You must visit once if you are visiting kuldhara- the haunted village, It is just half an hour away from the Kuldhara , Old historical stones and left out houses could be seen here, It's a very peaceful and quiet place and also good for geology lovers
The is lesser known place and part of Paliwal Brahmins left village and on our skirts some Rajputs live now. This the only place with fort and someone lives now on other side of fort and takes care along with entry ticket. No shops, restrooms etc, need like 30 mins. The place is quite isolated but safe. Someone will be in fort to meet you. The Shiv mandir has same design as in Kuldhara but the idol was stolen recently. Met some local people when we needed help and I appreciate their kindness
f I were to describe Khaba Fort, Jaisalmer in one sentence it will be: "A secluded, deserted palace, with no tourist crowd at all, ancient ruins all around and peaceful surroundings for miles and miles." To some, it might sound boring and not worth the time and effort. While to others, the same might sound romantic or adventurous. I guess this is the reason that Khaba fort, Jaisalmer is not as famous as the other attractions in Jaisalmer including the completely contrasting Jaisalmer Fort. And even the locals underrate it. But, it did sound interesting to us. So, on our trip to Jaisalmer, towards the end of 2017, we visited Khaba Fort along with the haunted village of Kuldhara, the Amar Sagar Jain Temple and Bada Bagh. Khaba fort is a small fort on the outskirts of the city, at almost a 40 km drive from the main city of Jaisalmer. Towards the Thar Desert. The Fort is not very large, and has been abandoned along with the village of Kuldhara that spreads on the foot of the fort. The drive from Jaisalmer city to Khaba fort is a pleasant one. With wide highway that run amidst the Thar Desert. One can either rent a vehicle from Jaisalmer to reach Khaba fort, or hire a taxi along with a driver (who most often act as the guide as well). The fort is located atop a small hill. The last few kilometers of the drive span through the winding roads uphill to reach the main entrance of the fort. We did the later on our visit here. We had hired a taxi for the entire day from Jaisalmer city. Using this taxi, we visited first Khaba Fort, followed by Kuldhara, Bada Bagh and other attractions. The driver of the taxi also acted as a guide for us on the way. To be honest, after having visited massive forts and palaces in Rajasthan including the Amer Fort, Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur, the massive Kumbhalgarh Fort and Chittorgarh Fort, Udaipur Palace, and last but not the least Jaisalmer fort, my expectations were similar from Khaba Fort, Jaisalmer. But, comparatively, I found the fort to be much more smaller. Moreover, the locals and the government don't seem to take much interest in the fort. Since, no steps have been taken for it's restoration, neither is it promoted as much as the other attractions in Jaisalmer. It seems for the same reasons, it is not so touristy. One will not find too much crowd here. Expect very little tourists. When we went here, there were just couple of other people exploring the place. But that is what we loved about the place - no crowd at all and the freedom to explore without any rush.
From this fort, you can spot an abandoned village with many haunting stories attached to it.
Inside the desert under the area of kuldhara there is a fort which once used to as resting place (Saraikhana) of the merchants who were travelling through the Silk route. It was also used for guarding the border. The fort is on a hilltop. Below there are ruins of the village. You will find roofless walls. There are peacock all around. Even inside the fort. Don't expect much more. If you want to visit carry water. There are no source and you are in a deserted place. Generally people ignore this place. Entry fee 20/-.
The fort is like completely in renovation stage almost 80 percent part is newly constructed...
