Locally popular name is "Thhio Hila". People believe that one of the largest Shiva Lingas of the world lies hidden under ground of this shrine. This place is situated at 2 km away North from the hustle and bustle of the main Tezpur town in a natural bamboo grove. Some says it is of the Gupta ages. Some researcher (Raj Mohan Nath, Tatwabhushan, "Gouravmay Assam", Plate no. 5) speculated that this long five faced Shiva Linga was worshipped by Kamrup King Bhuti Barman and this Shiva Linga was named Hatakeshwar at that time of the past. This Linga is of Almost 9 "hand" long at the upper part and 4 "hand" circumference. One large "Yoni Peeth" (Sacred Vaginal Idol) is placed nearby.

Visit and discover yourself. Always awesome and awake for me, 15yrs. back and now (16/3/2020). But its my humble request to the mandir committee that they appoint a resident pandit (bamun) for the visitors comfort and the devalaya, so that it doesn't remain deserted. Thanks. The size of the Shivelinga around 7-8 feet. Very peaceful and clean place.

Historical temple with a very peaceful surrounding but not well matained so it stopped me from giving 5 star.
