Kerala Cafe - South Indian restaurant in Lucknow - Lucknow, India

Okay so I USED TO love this place. I repeat 'USED TO' but todays visit cleared all my mental fog. This place is nothing like it used to be a couple of years ago. They have started charging more now for every single dish you order. Even the rise in prices were acceptable IF the quality and taste were retained. Food was pathetic. We ordered Masala Dosa wherein the Dosa seemed to have reduced in size and Sambhar was nothing more than thick curry. Our other dish was a combo of Veg Fried Rice with Veg Manchurian which was terrible. We were 3 people and we kept forcing each other to take more because none of us was interested in eating that food whereas there was a time when we used to snatch from each others plate. Now you can imagine the degrading in the taste. We were not even given an option of chosing plain water, we had to buy a plastic bottle worth Rs. 20. While leaving we were served some Saunf and Sugar Candy in a super dirty steel tray. I am attaching a small video clip and you all can see for yourself how casually they take their visitors by serving age old mouth freshners. Restaurant Management is REQUESTED not to remove any of the staff if they read this review but train them and take servicing seriously.

This is one of the best places I have ever visited, The food is really good, momos is stuffed completely and tastes perfect. Must try the dosa and everything tastes perfect. Must visit the restaurant.

Recently visited this cafe with my bunch of friends. Locating this cafe is not difficult as it is adjacent to prince market near Sahu Cinemas. Here we ordered couple of things namely fried idli, dosa, pav bhaji, burger. Fried idli was the best among the order. Sambher was average in taste and chutney was okay too. Dosa was good crispy but again sambhar was average. Pav bhaji was not at all good. Didn't like it. Burger is okay. Don't expect juicy burger. It was more like street food type burger. The ambience is not appealing. Lightings are very dim. Staff is humble here. Service is average.

Kerala Cafe is a good place to have Kerala special South Indian food. I have tried dosa and uttapam varieties and all good. Satisfactory food, very good food. However, upkeep and service needs perhaps to be attended to. Seems like this place has seen better times but surely a good place still for authentic southern indian food.

The food is tasty ,freshly made and economical as well ,the best part is it is located at a very prime location near the hazartganj parking lot but the upkeep of the place lacks behind . It seems dirty and haphazardly managed maybe because of the construction going on ...overall it's a decent experience

Nearest from royal cafe.. just opposite side and inside a gully.. behind the Giani icecream... Google maps can confuse you with the location so avoid taking the directions. Coming to the food, it was Amazing.. 5/5 Must try-- Paneer onion dosa Butter masala dosa Always go for dosas and uttapams for a safe side and good taste.. sambhar and chutney was also fresh and yum.. Service was really good and the rates were reasonable as well as pocket friendly.. The exterior and the location might be a bit unhygienic but interior is well maintained... A must must visit place to satisfy your cravings for dosas...!
