Good place for bird watchers. Only those interested in bird watching and travelling with required cameras will enjoy and not everyone. Best time to visit is from Jan to Feb.
A true heaven for birds. This is an amazing place to visit and spot some exotic species. Cycle ride was another amazing experience. However, guide service is only available via e-rikshaw, so it's a shame you have to choose either....overall an awesome experience!!
On November 17, 2024, we visited Keoladeo National Park, traveling by car from Agra to Bharatpur and arriving in the afternoon. We hired both a guide and a battery car for the excursion. While they claimed that a guide was mandatory for those using a battery car, we noticed many individuals exploring without one. Nevertheless, our guide proved to be quite knowledgeable. He brought along an optical lens that allowed us to observe birds up close. The optimal time to visit is during the winter months (November to January), when numerous birds migrate to the area around October. The park exudes tranquility and serenity, providing a relaxing experience for visitors. Overall, it is a highly recommended destination.
It's definitely birds paradise. Few things to know before you visit here: They have e rickshaw service available at 800 rs for 2 hours after that 400 per hour is added. Guide is compulsory if there are more than 2 guests and guide charges are also same as the driver. So for 2 hours you will end up spending 1600 in a day. Best way will be to book cycle or explore by walk. It's eco-friendly and will not hurt your pocket and there's no time bound also. Also to note that the area is huge so you might get tired if you go on a walk or cycling especially if you are carrying a heavy camera. And no matter how much money you end up spending it will hurt less when you witness nature. the park is beautiful and the landscape is breathtaking. We saw painted storks, ibis, wholly neck storks, owls and so so many other birds, difficilt to name all of them.
One of the most neglected places in Rajasthan. I am sure only bird lovers know this place. One of the major bird parks in the country, which receives heavy migratory birds during the winter season. The park remains open from sunrise to sunshine. Every guide in this park is well trained and very expressive, they know every species of the birds which migrate to Keoladeo National park. Must recommend visiting both at the sunrise and sunset to experience nature at its best. I would love to visit every year, if time permits.
One of the best bird sanctuaries of India. The Climate was soothing for cycling. One can walk or talk a cycle or hire an e-ricksaw within the premises. Various varieties of birds can easily be traced out. Best time for visit would be in Dec & Jan as one can find migratory birds on a large scale.
Recently visited the bird sanctuary in Bharatpur and it was truly a mesmerizing experience. The vast array of avian species is a birdwatcher's paradise. I highly recommend bringing binoculars, and if you're a photography enthusiast, a long-range camera is a must to capture the stunning diversity. For an enriching experience, hiring a guide is key. Mr. Mahendra Singh, our guide, provided invaluable insights into the birdlife, enhancing our appreciation for the sanctuary's ecological importance. Timing matters - visit after 1 pm. The afternoon sun beautifully highlights the vibrant plumage and behaviors of the birds. Contrary to common belief, the morning might not offer the best visibility. To add a touch of nostalgia, opt for a tonga ride. It not only complements the slow-paced ambiance but also adds to the overall charm of exploring this avian haven. An unforgettable visit, highly recommended for nature enthusiasts!
Incredible place to spend time. Tips: Reach a bit early 6-7ish if you wanna have the best chance of sightings/cold weather/very little crowd. Afternoons can get crowded and it feels very commercial at that point. After you pay the entry fee of about INR 130 for Indians, 4 options to get around: Walking (free), cycling (INR 150/cycle/day), Erick (INR 800 per vehicle /2hours/upto 4 tourists+800 for compulsory guide to be taken with Ericks, time can we extended with extra charges), Horse carriage (won't recommend as the horses seemed pretty beat up). The park has one main road extending from the main gate to the end of the park (about 5KM one way). There are a few smaller trails branching off from the main road (can only take cycle/walk on these). Unless you are pretty fit walking may not be a good idea. Taking a naturalist (guide) is recommended. They know about the spotting locations and also carry good binoculars. Check the whether forecast. On our last visit here was overcast with a lot of fog. So photography became problematic. With the boat ride (of about an hour available at the check post at about 1km from the main entrance for INR 300)- you can get some good shots of nightjars/close up of ducks fishing etc. We had to opt out due to lack of time. Food is only available at 2 points - the check post and the end point of the park. They only have packaged snacks/cold drinks/tea/water. So if you are planning on spending a couple of hours would recommend getting packed food from outside.
