Kelve Fort - Castle in Kelwa - default, India

Must visit location... Try to visit in morning to cover all over views. ... Beach is totally clean and fine .. washrooms are not available near beach ..so be prepared for that ... Also if you planning to have here good food .. and want to have lunch or brunch and sorry . You will not get anything here ... Bring your snacks with your self ..here you can only have raw fish..

There are three forts on this beach. One is at the southern tip of the beach and is submerged in sea water during high tides, unfortunately I visited it during early.low tide and couldn't visit the main fort. Kelva Fort is very tiny if you compare it to other forts in Maharashtra. Also locals do not know about its history. It is a port and Jetty construction is underway. Most of locals are living on Fishery and traditional means of earning is the cultivation of "panmala" (bettle leaves). The community which cultivates the malas are popularly known as vadvals Kelwa Beach is situated about 80 kilometres north of Mumbai. 2.5 hours drive from Borivali and one Ghat. The beach is about 8 kilometres long. Although not a very famous tourist attraction, the beach is overcrowded with local tourists during weekends, which indicates its growing popularity. In my view, Visit Kelwa beach and enjoy there, if you have time then only walk to the fort.

It is a unique structure & a must visit spot for history explorers. Due to its unique shape the fort has became a point of curiousity. To get here the first thing to note is the timings of low tides. The fort can only be accessed in low tides. It's a mini adventure trail where you walk a km or two from kelve beach & will sometimes have to walk from a knee level water streams to get here. The chilled water streams coming from danda creek may look dangerous to cross but it's not deep. The sand level is not that leveled so do hold each other's hand while crossing water streams. If you plan to climb & get inside then the big entrance from the danda creek side is the way to climb up. Climbing up is simple but coming down is difficult especially if you have hieght phobia as while coming down you may not see the places to put your foot.

This is a small sea fort build by the portuguese to keep a check on trade carried through danda creek and Kelve area. One can only reach the danda fort during the low tide. Pls check the ride timing beforehand or else you may get stuck in the tide can be very fatal. One can reach the fort from the Kelve jetty fishermen area by walking for max 15 mins. And try to climb the rocks with are around 8 feet in height. The view from the fort is very beautiful, very less people try to venture here.

You can visit this fort during low tides. Do check tide timings on internet before visiting this fort. The fort is excellent example of architecture structure.

Kelva Fort or Kelwe Fort is situated on Kelwe beach near Palghar. Kelva Fort is an ignored monument and there's no systematic arrangement for tourist or visitors to reach there. When we went there for the sake of curiosity, we had to pedal our way dipping our feet 2-3 inches in the mud. When we reached there, we saw there was no way to climb up on the fort as the wild plants and trees had grown up everywhere.

The fort located few metres from the shore ,you can watch beautifulll majestic sunset from the fort.Can be visited during low tide , snails & shells are found nearby.
