There is a temple in midway which is usually worshipped by the local peoples and I recommend you all to visit the Ganesh temple located in the top most part of the hill it's a simple structure yet it makes you feel wholesome divine. And the rock-cut architecture at Kalugumalai is an exemplary specimen of Pandyan art. The other portions of Kalugumalai houses are unfinished Shiva temple, Vettuvan Koil and Kalugasalamoorthy Temple, a Murugan temple at the foothills. So you could visit all this in and around a time of three hours including a leisure park located nearby the beds, perfect spot for all your family members!

An amazing place of heritage value , which is not very well known in the tourist circuit . One side of the rocky cliff is fully covered with images of Tirtankaras , yakshis and yakshas and there are plenty of inscriptions of historic value . The period assigned to this site is 8th Century , when great Jaina teachers had schools here . Close to this cliff is also an Ayyanar temple . Since it is a rocky place , better to visit in the cooler seasons .

A very nice historical place. There are few Jain sculptures and caves. Also a monolith temple which is carved from single rock. Its a place for those who love old sculptures and temples. Please like if the review was useful to you.

It's a amazing place everyone must visit to know our heritage and culture. Go early or after 3pm so u could avoid hot sun at noon. The view from above is amazing and you see the whole kazhugumalai. It's dates back to 8th century.carry water it will be helpful. It's also known as Ellora of South.Kazhugumalai housing a rock cut temple which is a lord Ganesh temple it's a example of pandaya's architecture. The sculptures and the carvings are indicative of Pandyan art during the period.The granite rock looks like a blooming lotus, with hills surrounding it on three sides.There are approximately 150 niches in the bed, that includes images of Gomateshwara, Parshvanatha and other Tirthankaras of the Jainism. Kalugumalai Jain beds is maintained and administered by Department of Archaeology of the Government of Tamil Nadu as a protected monument. There are 98 inscriptions related to Jainism at the Kalugumalai Jain Beds site, the largest known concentration of Jain inscriptions in far south India at a single site. These are found below the reliefs of Tirthankaras and yakshis, as well as near the hollowed out beds.
