Our School Katwa Kashiram Das Institution. Established in 1857, and named after the writer who translated the holy script The Mahabharata to Bengali. It has been one of the most famous boys' schools in the district. Jagadish Chandra Bose was once a student of this school.

Katwa Kashiram Das Institution is the oldest and largest higher secondary school (boys') in Katwa sub-division, Purba Bardhaman ( previously, Burdwan), West Bengal. It is a highly prestigious govt. sponsored school that shows its excellency in academic education, sports and in other co-curricular activities. The school was established in March 1857 by Carey the Junior and some educational interested personalities of Katwa Sub Division. At the time of its establishment it was known as Cuttwa High English School. The Chief Patron for its establishment was the then S.D.O. Hare Krishna Deb Bahadur, a member of royal family of Shobha Bazar. The school was first set up in Kachari Road, near the water supply of Katwa Municipality. Later the school was migrated to its present place in the year 1912. The school was named after Kashiram Das, the great poet and translator of the Mahabharata on 5th February, 1912. It seemed that the school was recognized as class-X High School soon after its establishment and from 1910 Matriculation Course started. The school was upgraded to class-XI school from 1.1.57 and from 1.7.1976 it was further upgraded to XII- class school by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. The school came under Grant-in-Aid Scheme from 1.3.1949. Jagadish Chandra Bose was once a student of this school. It's my school. From Class 5 to Class 12 I read here. Biggest school in Katwa subdivision. Teaching staffs are helpfull. Science, arts and commerce (temporarily this department is close due to insufficient students and teaching staffs) departments are available here. This School has many class rooms, Library, auditorium (Surya Narayan Hall), open stage(Mukta mancha), big field to play outdoor games, Small science laboratory for secondary level students and laboratory for Higher Secondary students, Beautiful Garden and the best students. This school is a heritage of Katwa. In 1857 it was established. Jagdish Chandra Bose was once o student of this great institution.
