Amazing place to visit. The forest fest house has everything to your comfort. Food at the canteen is a bliss and very affordable. Lunch, breakfast, tea ,water all inclusive for the 4 of us was 2000. It was a buffet too. It's better to stay at tiger camp than leopard hut as it was more spacious.
It was good. .Yes, tigers are there as we heard deer danger call.Guard says there are 80+ leopards are there which was unbelievable as I didn't found a single foot print. We saw crocodiles which are easily seen in kukrail, eagle, hen, male elephant, deers, langoor Suggestions : Be sure of timings it's 2- 5pm but for extra income they will bring you back within 2 hours and most moments were missed out.If they charge for 3 hours then there should be full safari fun.
Katarina is a beautiful and soothing place. Forest is beautiful and it offers amazing serenity. The tourists can also enjoy boating in Giriwa river and jungle safari facilities, during the visit. Our safari takes you through the sanctuary in an open 4x4 gypsy, with some of the most knowledgeable guides at the wheel. Keep your eyes peeled for pugmarks and mobile phones off. There's plenty to see: Gharials, crocodiles, herds of spotted deer, peacocks in frenzy, paradise flycatchers, and crested serpent eagles. Pray hard enough and you may just earn an audience with the reigning big cats in this area. Sprawling over 154 square meters this beautiful reserve bordering the gargantuan river Geruwa ( a tributary of Nepal's longest river, Karnali) is a habitat for gharials. Taking a motorboat with a local guide, we spotted several of these beautiful amphibians sunning themselves on sandbars in the middle of the river, with their distinctive snout and pot like a bump on the heads. Gliding around the Maila Nala, an Amazon-like narrow inlet in the river that leads to inner channels - we spotted an Indian rock python on a rock. If you are lucky you will also see the playful Indo-Gangetic dolphin prance in the water! The Katarniaghat's vegetation is lush and tropical and driving through jamun and silk cotton trees, as well as tall Kan's Grass, we saw adjutant storks, kingfishers and paradise flycatchers. Lots of alligators to see whilst on your boat ride.
Really an awesome and amazing experience here.. So calm and peaceful. Mesmerizing views, beautiful river and green forest. Chirping of birds and sound of flowing water gives a lasting impact on you. Natural beauty is abundance, I lost in it. Very reasonable charges for boating. Very well behaved and polite boatmen. Must visit and stay here for few days, a loveable destination..... I have seen few places like this...
You can expect lots of crocodiles and different species of birds here. Dears and monkeys are common as well. You can have Jungle safari rides early morning or late evening for spotting Tigers and Elephants. Be cautious while visiting Geruva river bank because of presence of crocodiles and pythons.
