Kataldhar trek route - Hiking area in Lonavala - Pune, India

This route is quite tough for beginners. The decent is easy but when you are returning back then you have to climb this all. Make sure you wear good shoes. Because in monsoon the rocks will be slippery. This route have much biodiversity of birds, snake and Fungus. So enjoy them.

The track was very amazing . When you start the track then you will find small waterfalls or when you go a little further then you will find another waterfall. At the end you will see Kataldhar waterfall.The view of the waterfall looks amazing .

Trek level is moderate to difficult. Road for parking is very bad. After parking if your vehicle, you need to start trek by going down. Path is slippery at many places, and need to get some hold of tree roots to keep balance. Trek goes through path full of trees. Not recommend for kids below 10 years. At end of trek, waterfall view is amazing. Two waterfalls can be experienced together. Food option are less during trek. However now days some 'tapries' are available and much crowd during weekend.

It's a difficult trek when the rains are heavy , as opposed to many bloggers describing it as an easy trek, no its definitely not. First time trekkers should not attempt this without guidance or should try to go with any trekking group. Views are worth the efforts taken. Trek route passes through a dense jungle and very adventurous. You can see many small waterfalls on the way to kataldhar. Takes about 4 hours to and fro.

Its so beautiful yet not that easy. The whole trek has marks in form of bottle n ribbons. So trek would always b visible. Now coming to location you can take car till the top. There comes a starting point from where water tank route is also there. Car can be taken there. No board or something is there to help. Ask and reach. Its 2-3 km till top. In rainy season take your car slowly and carefully. In route you could see mini waterfalls if went in rainy season After reaching at top Park near bike stand and start your trek. With simple plain route it becomes rocky n steeply downwards. It is almost 2 hour to reach main waterfall and same for reaching up again. Have good breakfast or meal before this as no vendor you will find throughout. Take raincoats, water bottle and water proof shoes for convenient trek otherwise there would be problem in your regular footwear. Also carry any cut bandages and few basic medicines. The trek is worth it to see the beautiful waterfall

Moderate Trek. . . Up and Down 4kms 3hrs for trekking and 1hr we can spend there.

A bit difficult and confusing trek. There is a steep decline from the start till the half point. After that you have to walk through the jungle to reach the waterfall. The view of the waterfall is worth the trek. The decline is steep and becomes slippery during monsoon. Treeking shoes are a must, along with raincoats. Do carry plenty of water as the water shops will charge twice or thrice the price down there

It was an amazing experience. Firstly the road to reach there is only meant for off-road riding. Be careful while riding/driving, because there are no services to repair your bike/car at hand. These things aside, the trek was amazing. The difficulty was moderate. Best time to visit is late July till mid August when it rains , it will add a cherry on top for your trek.
