One of the major station in Konkan railways. Located between Mangalore and Madgaon. 2 platforms are available. Most trains passing by stops here. Station building is old. Autos available outside the station. Buses are very less. Couldn't find any share autos or buses for half an hour and so has to take an auto to Kali river garden for 200rs. Will get auto to bus stand and beach at around 150-200rs.
Station is away from actual Karwar City. There are ladies n gents restrooms and canteen
The station is not equipped with basic facilities or the basic facilities are not maintained atleast. ATM is not there, likewise waiting rooms are pathetic. Check train status before reaching to platform as it keeps smelling and trains on this station is generally no on time.
Had a really disappointing experience at Karwar railway station. I had to book a ticket for my pet. So, I had to go to the ticket booking counter and as I was told by others (who had similar experience in the past) there was a very rude and ill mannered man who mostly sits at the counter. The way he had been talking to us was very disheartening. Surprisingly, he has been doing this with a lot of people that I was told by their own staff.
Station may look beautiful from exterior but considering passenger amenities it is worst. 1* for location 2* for polite staff . Retiring rooms are available at Rs340/day(2 beds per room) and total there are two rooms but i would recommend to avoid unless you are left with no other options.(Batchelors and budget travellers can have a look). I would recommend to use Dormitories in Madgoan station(top notch) and use train to come here. Dormitories are out of service now.Waiting hall is separated for Gents and ladies. Gents waiting hall can be avoided. Lacks maintenance .Dont enter unless you need a socket to charge.Enjoy fresh breeze outside. Station has a single stall with limited options of Tea/Coffee and packed MRP items. Vehicle parking is available outside station ,considering number of vehicles parked it looks safe. Public transportation (KSRTC)is available from a walkable distance from station to reach karwar town.

The Karwar Railway Station (KAWR) is serviced by the Konkan Railway and is one of the major stations on the Konkan Railway network. Rated as one of the greenest railway stations in India, this place is a great sight to behold during the monsoons. There are two platforms and majority of trains on the Konkan Railway halt at this station.
