Nice place to visit where lord Ganesh is being the main worshiping...... as it is believed that ones wishes may come true with his blessings.... At this temple there are resting place where pilgrims from long distance can take rest for few hours....

Dating back to 7th Century, this is one of the oldest Vinayagar rock cut temples in lndia. Located in a quiet village, Pilliar petti, it's an important shrine for Hindus. It's a huge complex, well maintained with ample parking. We went early 6 AM, crowds were thin, temple and area was relatively clean. The temple has a great ambience and a calming effect to devotees. Reportedly, The Lord removes all difficulties of devotees. There are usual temple shops and veg hotel Annalakshmy, at the entrance. Ok and a shadow of it's HO at Karaikudi. We stayed in Karaikudi, 15 kms away, roads are good, G msps work fine.

Magnificent temple of lord Ganesha. Stunning sculptures surround you, and you can't help but be awed by the sheer size of the temple. Though there was a crowd, we got ample time to pray to the idol, and there was no rushing unlike in other famous temples.n

Fell in love with the Grand Pillaiyar and the temple with rural touch - reef roof entry. Marutha maram also a fascination. Authentic divine souvenirs from the shop near the temple and Chettinad baskets made the visit wholesome

The temple is dedicated to Karpaka Vinayakar (Ganesha). In the cave temple, there are rock cut images of Ganesha, Siva linga and another carving that has been variously identified as Ardhanarishwara or Harihara or the early king between them who built this temple.[2] All these are notable for their unusual iconography.[2] In late 19th-century, during restorative excavation and repair work, panchaloga statues were discovered. These are dated to the 11th-century.[1]
