Best place for nature lovers. I'm from Kalahandi and you won't believe that i go to Karlapat Wildlife sanctuary once in every week. Really,I feel the real peace there. But be careful of wild animals like elephant, tiger, bear and many more. And please don't go inside the forest without any permission of Forest department, Kalahandi.
Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary located in Kalahandi district and a popular tourist attraction of Odisha in India. Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary is about 15 km from Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters of Kalahandi district. The sanctuary covers an area of 175 square kilometres.
Nice place to visit with friends and family. Keep in mind , you can stay only up to 5:00 pm so plan your journey accordingly. as, many people go there around 4:30 -5:00 but ends up disappointed and not allowed to go inside .
Pristine and vast, untouched by rowdy tourism and dotted with tiny little villages, Karlapat is a small sanctuary with amazing biodiversity. Teak, Sal, Bamboo are aplenty. Jakam rest house is a pretty little cottage in the middle of nowhere. Peaceful and serene. Numerous perennial streams criss cross the sanctuary, making it green throughout the year. Loved it here.
Karlapat is so calm and full of natural scenery.
This is good forest area lean in high land of mountain. Monkey deer and other animals are here. If you horn of your car monkey comes away to you and you can feed them on your hand. They are habitual to taking food from human without fear. Mostly they like banana biscuit and other fruit.
Beautiful drive through forests and secluded villages. Niger seed farms, corn fields. If you are lucky, you ll see elephants.
