Karim's Delhi 6 - Calicut - Featured Reviews (338)
I m not satisfied with their food , because I have been to Karims in Delhi and I know the taste . I visited there a few months ago and now if the cook is changed you would definitely can give a try . Coz that's what the excuse the manager told me that we have a stubborn cook who doesn't realise that his food isn't authentic Karims .
Located in Gokulam Mall, they have done a great job with the interiors and use of available space. The seating too is quite comfortable and the staff welcoming. The menu is extensive but I had a fair idea on what to order and this is what we went with. 1. Dil Pasand Seekh Kebab (4pcs) - Rs370 2. Bemisal Shami Kebab (4pcs) - Rs370 3. Makhni Murgh Burra (8pcs) - Rs650 4. Dil Bahar Dopyaza (Half) - Rs350 5. Akbari Murgh Masala (Half) - Rs330 6. Mutton Biryani Bahishti (Full) - Rs600 7. Garlic Naan (3 pcs) - Rs360 First to arrive was the 'Dil Pasand Seekh Kebab' & the 'Shami Kebab'. The Seekh kebabs were absolutely outstanding. Spiced and seasoned to perfection, it was moist and made for a fantastic combination with the garlic naan. I can't emphasise enough how good it was and this should definitely be one of the first things you order here. The 'Bemisal Shami Kebab' on the other hand were slightly drier though still packed with flavour. It does come with a spicy green chutney though which adds a bit of tanginess and that helps with the dryness. The 'Murgh Burra' is a dry chicken fried dish that had some of the most intense flavours. As mentioned, it is dry and would be better paired with some rice but don't miss out on this wonderful dish. The 'Akbari Murgh Masala' is rich and slightly on the greasier side but without it, it wouldn't taste as good. The chicken magically takes on the intensity of the gravy and you really get to taste the flavours right to the bone. The quantity is dismal though so if you are part of a larger group, go for the Full. There is nothing to criticise about the 'Dil Bahar Dopyaza' either when it comes to taste and it was definitely delicious but the portion was a bit too small. This is best enjoyed with their Garlic Naan. The chicken was tender and had really absorbed the intense flavours from the gravy. I loved the 'Mutton Biryani' too and by this time we were all quite full. The meat was tender and coated in that beautiful rendered masala but make sure to mix it well before serving because all the goodness is down below. The rice is fragrant and fluffy and I would definitely stop by just to enjoy this all by myself. A big shoutout to the wonderful staff that served us and made us feel welcome. The bill came to a total of Rs3400 which is definitely on the pricier side but don't let that stop you from experiencing the best of Delhi in the wonderful city of Kozhikode.
Oh my god!!!!! Really amazing.... I loved it!!! One of the best Biriyani i eat from Kozhicode Must try Biriyani
A better hyderabadi biryani spot in Kozhikode when compared to others. But not the best. Ambience and service was very good. A perfect spot for families.
Verdict: In Kozhikode we have plenty of options to have dinner, because of that we don't want to visit Karim's any more. Welcoming service was good. Staffs are also good. But the man atbthe counter was very poor in attitude. Food consistency is also poor. . I visited Karim's restaurant at Gokukam Mall, Kozhikode with my familiy mwmbers if 11 people. It's not worth money. Too much high on price when you compare what they serve. The options to order are also very less. They won't survive much on this location, they will close permanently soon. Items we ordered: 1) garlic butter nan: its okay.. 2) Kamiri nan: 2pcs ordered, 1 pc was burned, 1 pcs was okay. 3) ragini nan: i din try this, button family members says it us just okay 4) tanduri chicken two varieties: it is okay (not so good, not so bad, but not worth for that price) 5) Mugulai chicken curry: very oily. Bad taste, only two pcs of chicken. Too much price. 6) jangeri chicken: poor item, only two pcs of chicken. Too much price. 7) dal makhni: this curry was good one. Only this item is good here.
Food was good until the bill came in. I mean we did expect it to be comparatively higher since it's a fine dine restaurant. However, it was too much for the food they served. We did not check the cost as the menu was suggested by a friend and we went with it. The Dil Pasand Kebab was pretty good. The mutton Nihari wasn't bad either but nothing special about it. We also had the mutton haleem. Now this is where things went south. The haleem was street good. But you had to pay 6 times of what you did in the streets and I personally think it's not worth it. Overall, everything is spicy. The service was okayish. And yeah, the Haleem came in cold and we had to ask them to heat it. Also please request them to not add lemon to it and instead give them to you.
Quality food served. Tasty. tradition well explained in taste.
We tried Mutton Soup - good Chicken Kebab - Average Mutton Burra - Average Could have been better. Ambience is fine. Staffs are polite. Food needs to be improved
