Karbi Anglong autonomous Council(KAAC)Diphu is one of the oldest Autonomous Council of India and it was constitue under Partially Excluded and Excluded Area,Govt.of India Act. 1935 and sixth schedule to the constitution of India. people of Karbi Anglong want to be upgradation from Autonomous District into Autonomous State under Article 244(a) of Constitution respectively.
The history of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) draws back from since 1940, when a leaders led by Semson Sing Engti, Khorsing Terang and others submitted a memorandum to the Excellency Sir Robert Reid the Governor of Assam of the British India regime visited in Karbi Anglong demanding political identity of Karbi ( before Mikir) people residing in different district of Assam. In continuation of the process, in1951 the Govt of India passed the bill in the Lok Sabha under the provision of Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution during the presence of Excellency President of India Sri Rajendra Prasad, on his assented to the creation of the twin hills district of Assam viz Karbi Anglong & NC hills. With an entrusted 30 (thirty) departments and others Central & State govt sponsored schemes the powers is vested within the members of the council the CEM & Executive Members.
