I recently visited this beautiful spot, and it left me captivated by its natural beauty. Initially, this lake was built as a percolation tank by the Mysore King, to serve as source of drinking water for residents and was used for other chores like bathing, washing, etc. In 1976, the lake has been taken as a part of Mysore Zoo. Since then, it has been maintained by the Mysore Zoo authority. Also known as Fountain Lake it is spread across an area of 90 hectares of lush greenery and rich fauna; out of 90 hectares of area, 55 hectares is the water spread area while the foreshore area is around 35 hectares.

A beautiful place for beautiful people. Take the fragrance of the botanical garden with the breath taking beauty of the dancing peacocks. First ever in my life I saw swans; They are beautiful! Just amazing. Most important, you are always under surveillance of naughty monkeys, running everywhere you go.

There are ample seating arrangements inside the garden as well as by the side of the lake to spend some time alone or with family or friends as applicable. It has lots of peacocks & other birds. You can surely enjoy your evening here with friends and family. There's a huge playground as well for younger kids. Entry price is 50rs, car parking 70rs and boating is also at nominal prices only.
