It's one of the best Lighthouse complexes ever visited by us in all our travels in India and abroad. So clean and well maintained. The Museum was filled with such interesting artifacts. The climb, to the top of the lighthouse, challenged us both senior citizens with me crossing the 70 threshold. But we made it to the top with the last vertical ladder after several flights of circular steps. Kannur lighthouse and the museum is a must.
Wonderful experience watching the video of the lighthouse history. All the artifacts are wonderful. Climbing 108 steps to the top was worth it. The view from the top is spectacular!! Well maintained.
The museum was good but not that great, but the view from the top of the lighthouse was amazing!! I'd recommend paying for the camera too cause otherwise they don't let us take photos. If you think you can be sly enough and do it, then go ahead. There's another entry where you can pay and have a walk in the park which is adjacent to the sea. It's not a beach it's more like a cliff. It's a really nice place to just chill and spend the evening. The ticket prices were around Rs20-Rs30
Unlike other light houses, this is still live one, every evening they switch on the light. Good view and breeze on top of tower. And no other light house allow inside or up, but here yes allowed. There is decent stair case climb, see photo. To reach top there will be slight queue, as the door to top floor is quite small and short and the capacity on roof is limited, so entry exit is manned, guys takes care of letting people in and out so no chaos. Next to tower there is museum where you can see all the old lights and navigation Instruments used in olden days.
Amazing breathtaking views from the top of the lighthouse. The stairs are comfortable to reach to the top but there is a ladder in the end to reach the end platform which can be issue for few. Don't forget to visit the museum in the same premise.
The Lighthouse and its museum offer a captivating journey into maritime history and coastal navigation. The scenic view from the Lighthouse is nothing short of spectacular, providing visitors with a panoramic vista that extends across the vast expanse of the sea. The elevated vantage point adds an extra dimension to the experience, making it a must-visit for those who appreciate breathtaking views. The museum is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts, showcasing the intricate details of the olden-time lighting systems employed in lighthouses. It beautifully captures the evolution of maritime technology, detailing the mechanisms that guided sailors through treacherous waters. The exhibits are informative and well-curated, offering a glimpse into the challenges faced by mariners in the past. Wandering through the museum, one can't help but marvel at the ingenuity behind the historic lighting apparatus. The artifacts and displays create a tangible connection to a bygone era, fostering a deep appreciation for the role of lighthouses in ensuring maritime safety. The Lighthouse and its museum not only provide a stunning view but also serve as a captivating educational journey through the history of maritime illumination. It's a perfect blend of natural beauty and historical insight, making it a memorable destination for those keen on both scenic experiences and maritime heritage. The light House visit is only allowed till 6pm.
Good place to see lighthouse and go to top, enjoy sunset. A small museum is also inside. Ample car parking. 20 rupees entry fee for adults, 10 rupees for senior citizens
Amazing. The museum is a must-visit, with a lot of information. If you have an interest in knowing about the lighthouse, then this is the best place for you to visit and learn about the history of a lighthouse, how it operates, what the purpose of having a lighthouse is, and how many lighthouses are in India. Also, the amazing part is that you will get a chance to go inside the lighthouse and get to see the amazing panoramic view from the top.
