Kanjipanthal - Restaurant in Kozhikode - Kozhikode, India

I decided to visit this place after seeing their menu options of Kanji. Wanted to give it a try. I ordered thengapal kanji which was too delicious. Along with the kanji they provide some veggies and pickle which is good enough to have. They also provide unlimited kanji and side veggies, so it can definitely suffice your hunger. For someone who like to explore on new food I felt this kanji option is good and economical. I haven't tried any other food option here, so my rating is only for the Kanji and the place. I loved the ambience as well. It was a bit difficult to interact with the staff as he couldn't understand English and I can't speak Malayalam. But they were friendly and nice.

Kanjipanthal is a small restaurant close to Calicut beach at convent road. The ambience of the place is good. Dim lights and old malayalm songs do set the ambience of an 80s restaurant. The restaurant just has two rooms and it was crowded. We picked random items from the menu and the food was good. Chatti chor was excellent and a must try. Kappa was not that good. The concept of pothichor and chattichor is what makes this restaurant different from other restaurants in Calicut. There is a small parking space, does not fit many vehicles. As the place gets crowded, parking could be a problem. You will have to find a parking spot and walk to the restaurant. The service was good. Due to the rush, we had to wait for almost 10 minutes to get a table and 15 minutes to get the order. The staff was very friendly and served food as fast as possible. The wall hangings were unique and interesting, the old photographs of Kozhikode city and the inhabitants take you back to the simple old times. Again due to the rush and having just one functioning Air conditioner, the place was boiling hot and the fan just blew hot air. This was my first visit to the restaurant. Earlier I have ordered food from here. One thing I noticed was the price difference. The food pricing at the restaurant was very less compared to the pricing online. I would suggest trying this restaurant once. Try their chattichor, just for a change. Other than that there is nothing special about the restaurant. During my second visit today I noticed their menu was limited to just chattichor, pothichor Kappa and biriyani. Ordered a seafood chattichor, it was disappointing. The fish curry was good, but the items in the chattichor did not get well. Bought poola fish curry, poola was too dry. pothichor was good.

Nothing special about food taste. Just ordinary.Ambience is good. Service is good.We had chattichoru and kottayam meals. Chattichoru was 320. Not worth it. We had similiar items with more dishes from so many places.

A small restaurant with good ambience, Kanjipanthal serves varieties of Kanji and meals. I have tried their Pathirakanji, Thengapal Kanji and Regular Meals. The regular meals that costs only 60 Rupees is worth a try. Their Kanji prepared with Palakkadan Matta is good and to me their side dishes are supergood. The way they serve food along with the ambience and the music will take you back to the "traditional" Kerala dining.

A small restaurant with variety of Kanji... I visited this location as I was suffering from throat infection. So my wife suggested me this place. You can park the vehicle on nearby roads. I didn't find any dedicated parking spaces for the restaurant. The major attraction of this place is Kanji and so I ordered for pathira kanji, which is normal kanji along with different side dishes like beef, chicken, prawns, squid, fish, tapioca, chutney, pappadam etc. Food tastes good and moreover it was a relief to my throat. The price also affordable only... (270/~) The dining area is calm and cozy. Staff were good at their behavior...

Food was tasty..price is on little high side. Good service
