A fort and place which was ruled by Jamindari Kings under Mysore Maharaja and British rulers. Kangundi was the area headquarters during 15, 16 centures. Kuppam was later developed, the present major municipality under which Kangundi comes. It comprises lush greenery forests around, having resources and fruits such as custedapple, shikaya, reetha (kunkudikaya) and more. The forest also home for many wide species such as lepord, deer, peacocks and wild pigs (visitors may not be able to counter with them usually). Forest also mothers the small seasonal rever called palaru. Must visit historical place in near area. Fort is a home for 17th century casted iron cannon iron ball launcher. Near to fort there are kings and their family toombs.
Kuppam area was ruled by Kangundi Zameendarrs from 1066 AD to 1950 AD. There is a historical place called Kangundi 11 Km away from Kuppam, which has a fort, wherefrom the Zameendars ruled the area. They were known as Kangundi Zameendars. About 28 rulers established Zameendars system in about 360 villages. Until the system was abolished all the Zameendars lived in Kangundi fort only. A fort with lots of cage. Had a nice trekking. Top view point is awesome. Must visit during autumn.
