One of my favourite food spot in Pondicherry... KAMATCHI RESTAURANT.... We ordered Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani and jigarthanda.... If u r interested in biryani.. I'd recommend the Mutton Biryani over the Chicken..... it perfectly captures the Tamil biryani flavor. Both were prepared in the classic dum style.. Staffs behaviour was really good... It was really a nice experience.
Good place to eat.. be careful about meal timings.. if you reach after 3pm then May get only biryani type food.. but overall good place..
Kamatchi has many branches in Pondicherry. We tried the one near KV Textile shop. Earlier we went to white town branch, since only biryani is available in white town kamatchi branch, we came hear for meals. Good point is that they have dedicated parking space close by for cars. The staffs were cooperative & helpful... many varieties for chettinad type of dishes were available. Good to try since prices were reasonable...

But the real gem of our meal was the Elaneer Payasam - a delightful blend of saffron, almonds, milk, all nestled in tender coconut. This unique experience only costs Rs99! Don't miss it. The prices for all dishes ranged from Rs240-300, making it an affordable treat. Overall, a hidden gem in the area that deserves more recognition! Look for Shakthivel an enthusiastic waiter who seem to be very helpful especially if you are not familiar in this area
It's a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. We have our lunch here regularly. Food is tastier. The waiter Mr.Sakthivel was friendly and served well.

First time i tried here, its some what ok. I expect alot, but it disappointed me. Food taste some what ok. Hotel atmosphere is really good. Table service not friendly,need more improvement in customer relationship. But finally i tried Eleneer Payasam, thats really awesome , thats why i give 4star. Don't forget to try, ELANEER PAYASAM
