Kalo's is my favorite spot for seafood in Mahabalipuram. The cafe's location is perfect, right by the beach. Try the continental and South Indian seafood options; you won't be disappointed.
The combination of quality seafood and affordable prices is what keeps me coming back to Kalo's. The rooms are comfortable, and you get the added bonus of waking up to the sea.
We went there for lunch after seeing reviews by @begumschoice. The service was pleasant & staff were polite. The view from the restaurant was fantastic. The food was average. We had golden fried calamari, jumbo prawns bathed in garlic butter sauce (gravy kind) & tawa prawns. The tawa prawns were very spicy so we asked them to re-do it. They made a gravy out of it & served it with rice, which was fine. The calamari was too plain. Only the jumbo prawns were good. Beverage options were so limited! We ended up drinking fresh lime soda only. Overall experience was just ok. They really need to improve!
It is located in a nice spot with good sea view though the way to the shack is narrow as we have to walk through narrow roads between houses where cars wont go. Recommend to visit during evenings because its really hot in there by the sea(obviously) if you visit for lunch. Food presentation is top notch but taste wise, it was just ok ok. The lobster I ordered had burnt garlic and tawa fish was okayish.
Stayed here for a night Excellent view of the sea from the room. The rooms and beaches are so private. I would say Room is not that great but on par. food served here is top notch. Service is also very good.
Don't choose this hotel Very very worst property waste of money it's not a room or accommodation it's a dungeon everywhere I seen dirty in the room. Very worst food but high costly. Very disappointed I never ever seen like this property in my life. So please guys don't choose this property. Only see view near to beach other than waste.
Its is a good place to hangout but the waiters is not permitting to sit for long time. They asking us to leave if we order less. Bar is half filled but they denied to sit for long time. I never had this experience anywhere. Not recommended for some one who wanted to spend more time.
Great sea view restaurant with delicious food recipes. Value for money. Though you need to reach this place only by bike or walk for 300 metres from main road.

Excellent food, easily some of the best I have had at Mahabs. Great music and vibes as well - incredible view from the tables! Highly recommend the calamari curry.
Best seafood. Prawn pepper fry, Calamari, Live fish order. Masala is also good. Fried rice was average but because of the seafood taste it can be ignored. They can work on the ambiance little bit.
