The town itself has a relaxed vibe with colorful markets, offering local handicrafts and delicious street food. The Bhuri Singh Museum is a must-visit for those interested in the region's history and culture. While Kalka may not have the hustle and bustle of larger cities, it's an excellent gateway to explore the Himalayan region further. The proximity to Shimla and other hill stations makes it a convenient starting point for adventures in the mountains.
Starting point for iconic Kalka-Shimla toy train journey. Must visit, very well maintained, kids will enjoy a lot. Statues, few stationary trains, photogenic experience.
Amazing Station I am using when going to Shimla. Amazing experience. Connected with Toy Train station. Just few seconds walk distance you going to you train station. Am waiting almost 1 hrs this station reason of you train delay. When visiting from shimla via bus make sure not proper any bus stand for that railway station so keep in mind About food avilable all things. But if you wants tea then you face little bit sadness because only one shop and even that shop not in station shades out shades. They provide typical babuji feel. Like tea ni milege or something jo h ayse he look like new nahi banege. Means look like monopoly type because there is not any another shop. Machine tea avilable many shops but authentic only one. But I forgot it because experience is good When visiting from shimla via bus make sure not proper any bus stand for that railway station so keep in mind When visiting from shimla via bus make sure not proper any bus stand for that railway station so keep in mind....
An essential trip. The train is small but not as tiny as the words Toy Train might imply! Not uncomfortable but quite basic. It stops three or four times and you can buy strong tea, pakora and rolls on the station. It's a long, long journey - 5.5 hours. The view is somewhat better seated on the right of the carriage, especially at the beginning but it winds around. Over 100 tunnels. Although the view is stunning it's quite hard to photograph as the trees grow right by the track.
It's a good small station mainly to have a connecting toy train to Shimla. You can find some hotels nearby this station but for that you need to walk outside straight for 10-15 minutes. This station has paid executive lounge which is 20Rs per hour per person. For this you need to have a valid PNR and the amount needs to be paid on booking counter.
Needs improvement but at that altitude it's pretty decent station. Had a great night staying at the dormitory but getting one is very difficult. Kalka - Shimla is the main attraction. Normally every day @5.
It is the last stop to all trains , and only train goes forward is toy train to shimla , the day i went toy train got cancelled, so please check the status of the toy train before u go or plan ,, and I had sweetest tea until now , once we cross kalka the mountains will start , train got cancelled, then I walked 300 mts to busstop and I got direct bus to shimla charged me nearly 200.
The Kalka railway station is a great place to visit during the Simla-Kalka hill train journey. The station is well-maintained and provides a great experience for railway enthusiasts. The views during the train journey are breathtaking, as the train passes through the beautiful mountains and valleys. The train ride is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the region. The station is also well-connected to other destinations. Overall, I had a great experience at the Kalka railway station and would recommend it to anyone looking to take the Simla-Kalka hill train journey.
