It's important to note that tickets must be booked in advance on the website, as only prior bookings are allowed. The trek itself is moderate in difficulty, but it does require a minimum level of fitness. To ensure that you can catch the sunrise, it's best to start the trek around between 3 to 4am in the morning. Don't forget to bring a torch, as you'll be starting the trek in darkness. The trek is about 5 to 6km and should take around 4 hours to complete. Must know things if you are planning to visit : it is a government operated trek so you need to book tickets from karnataka eco tourism website. At a time only 300 person are allowed. Genrally weekend tickets are booked by trekking groups long back. So, either book through a trekking group or book it around 15-20 days before visiting. About the trek: it's a 4km long trek which will take around 1.5 to 3 hours depending on your fitness. It's not that easy as it is all the way ascending plus there are parts of trek which are quite slippery ( might get extremely slippery in rainy season). If you start your trek at night do carry a torch and some water plus some snacks. There is just one small shop near the entrance of the trek so it's better to carry your own stuff. View from the top: The view is worth the climb. You say a beautiful view with a lake, if you are lucky enough to witness the sunrise then it will be amazing ( we didn't get to see it). There are around 5-10 good spots for taking some really nice picture. Have fun!

Fun filled active weekend. I would suggest a visit in summer if you are planning to see a sunrise 100% chance. In winters it's mostly foggy the view was awesome and trek is not tough the path was good and safe.

Amazing hills located in Chikkaballapur district and around 70kms from Bangalore. The trek is a wonderful experience throughout the route. It's one of the most popular trekking destinations around Bangalore. There's parking place for both 2 as well as 4 wheelers at the base near the temple. It's usually very crowded weekends. You need to book the entry ticket online at myecotrip. com. The charges are 250 rupees per head. There are 2 slots available.... One at 4 am and the other at 8 am. Choose the 4 am slot if you want to view the sunrise from the top.There's a checkpost where the online booking is checked well as your ID proof and you need to do entry since it's a forest area. The views from the top are breathtaking. There's an ancient fort rings on the top as well as an abandoned temple as well. Beware of the monkeys on the top. The trek is of moderate difficulty and the party is well guided throughout with arrow marks. must visit place if you love trekking. Please ensure that you carry good as well as water since there's nothing available on the top. The 4 am slot is better since it becomes tiring once the sun is out.
