Kainakary House Boat Terminal in Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a picturesque spot situated in the heart of the backwaters of Kerala. During i visited last month with my family and friends, you likely had the opportunity to embark on a houseboat adventure, taking in the lush greenery and serene surroundings while gliding along the water. The houseboats, also known as Kettuvallams, are traditional vessels made of wood and thatched roofs, and come equipped with all modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The houseboat journey may have included stops at nearby villages, where you could have experienced the local culture and sampled the delicious Kerala cuisine. As you float along the tranquil waters, you may have also witnessed local fishermen casting their nets and going about their daily routines. Overall, Kainakary House Boat Terminal offers a unique and memorable experience, allowing visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the backwaters of Kerala.

Kainakary boat terminal. A perfect spot for house boats and all other tourist boats to park, people to relax, photo shoot and enjoy sunset and nature. Not sure about the accessibility here from the road side. I was told its a muddy road and has to walk little to reach here. How ever lots of tourist boats park here which are passing by and its beautiful. Maintenance or cleaning is not done properly for sure here. The grown up gasss on the terminal walkways shows it. There are some beautiful local shops selling fancy items, ice creams and soft drinks, salads etc. Those shops are good, as far as I saw and understand. After all a nice place for the boat riders, house boaters and travellers.

Five rivers originating from the Western Ghats, including the sacred Pamba River, drain into the Vembanad lake in the tip of Kainakary. Once a communist bastion, its literacy rate is notably better than many of its counterparts. The village is close to more than five lakes, which are vast in area. Kainakary is a shooting location for movie/TV soaps/music videos, etc. The village itself has numerous small water bodies, rivers, canals and ponds. People dwell near to canals and river banks mainly. Being part of Kuttanad, vast paddy lands make up the major part of the village. These paddy lands are below sea water level. So the rice cultivation in this area is unique and well appreciated. Floods are another major calamity that can be seen in Kainakary's history. Floods in Kuttanad are expected during every heavy monsoon season in Kerala. And Kainakary is one of the worst affected during these floods. Native people are well accustomed to these hard times, the floods leading to the destroying of crops, damages to houses and buildings. Kainakary is known for its Snake boat race rowers.
