Kaidala Shri Chennakeshava Swami Gudi - Featured Reviews (550)
Located at a distance of 5km from Tumakuru City. This Holy Temple stands as a classic masterpiece of Hoysala Architecture. Sculpture of Deity Channakeshava tells us about the craftsmanship of Jakkannachari. Next to Channakeshava Temple, there is another temple for Lord Shiva Parvathi- it was locked when we visited. Architecture here is admirable. Nearby places to visit: Gulur Ganesh Temple Siddagangaa Mutt, Devarayanadurga, Namada Chilume. Serene environment. Maintenance in and around temple need to be improved.
This place is said to be the birth place of the legendary sculptor Jakanachari of fhe Hoysala kingdom. The main chennakeshava idol was the last work of this artist. The temple is ancient and with minimal carvings. The main idol is beautiful and detailed.. Well maintained and calm surroundings. During Sankrathi, we can witness the engineering marvel as sun rays hit the feet of the idol passing through the pieced ear of the Garuda idol.
A cultural heritage place to visit in Tumakuru, the place does not receive many visitors though, also poorly managed. Hope the rich sculptural beauty of the temple will be well preserved in future days
Suuuperb Hatsup to the sculpture creator Amara shilpi jakanachari. Really god channakeshava idol is masterpiece its an unbelievable unexplainable hand trick of great jakanachari. Only the idol of God channakeshava is main attraction the temple looks simple like other eney temple . One more thing that is very interesting is that the sunlight falls on west facing God channakeshava swamy s face on the day of holy Sankranti day from the compound hole to Garuda Murthy both sides of his neck & to walls window & passing some distance in the temple hall & IT FALLS ON GOD. It's the greatest example for our Indians knowledge of Astronomy There is one belief that the jakanachari get his cutted hands back after completing this idol in single hand
Small yet beautiful Chennakeshava temple in Kaidala is definitely worth visit. This is the birth place of Amarashilpi Jakanachari( legendary Indian sculptor). Mesmerizing story of how he cut his hand because his son showed a flaw in his art, which grew back again and because of this miracle, place was renamed to Kaidala. Lot of history and art.
Kaidala is another beautiful architecture of Hoysala era. This village is the birth place of master architect Jakkanachari and this temple was carved by him before his death. The temple could be will maintained and there are beggars around the temple. Good thing is there will be hardly any other tourists in the premise. So you can enjoy and take photos without any obstacles.
The temple houses Sri Chennakeshava Swamy in a grandeur form. There's not much to talk about the temple complex. There are few carvings here and there... mainly looks like they have placed the blocks during the resurrection in some stage over the years. The temple was established in 1151 AD. The major attraction here is the idol of the Lord. It's magnificent and you would just find yourself staring at the idol as its intricate carvings are just mind blowing. The priest here would explain the intricate work carried out in the sculpture. The idol is said to be the outcome of the effort of Amara shilpi Jakannacharya and the last idol he sculpted.
On of the most amazing nd holy hindu temple,, of Lord Chennakeshava swamy,, the main idol is built by The famous sculpturist Jakanacharya and his Son Dankanacharya Jakanacharya received a vision to build the Chennakeshava temple in his native place Kridapura. After this was completed, legend has it that God restored his right hand. In celebration of this incident, Kridapura was henceforth called Kaidala. The term Kai in Kannada means "hand".Local non-government organizations in the state of Karnataka have been trying to raise funds to protect the Chennakeshava temple at Kaidala. one can see the idol which has soo much detail in every single inch ,,the temple is maintained very well,, but can still improve,, so that the foreigners can also have axis of this temple,, The road towards the temple is not good full of potholes and al,, there is no public toilet nearby which might be a problem for tourists. Can improve on all this. #JaiHind #karnataka #india
