If you are on a tour to udupi for temple bisit. Please please do not forget to visit the recently renovated famous kadiyali temple. Full of wood & stone carving. A master craftmsnship to appreciate. Keep atleast a min of one hour for this temple visit. Ample car parking available. At the entrance is a dome with 2 marvellous carving rotating in the opposite direction. You feel like just standing & admiring the idea & the excellent carving. Hats off to the team who planned & executed it.
Kadiyali Mahishamardini Temple of Udupi is one of the oldest temples in the district of South Kanara and has a history of more than 1200 years. Situated 2.3km from the bus stop of temple town udupi. Mode of transport being the autos and local buses, which might be the very convenient way to reach the temple. Temple remains open from morning 5:30 to afternoon 1 and from 4 to 9pm on usual days. Vigraha (statue) of Kadiyali Mahishamardini, which resembles the style of Chalukyas of Badami.The unique features of the statue are as follows The statue of Mahishamardini is in a standing posture. She has four arms. In Her upper right hand, She holds the Prayaga Chakra (the discus) and in Her upper left hand, the Shanka (conch shell). She is piercing the head of Mahishaasura, the buffalo shaped demon, who has fallen at Her feet, with the Trishul (Trident) held in Her lower right hand. She is pulling the tail of Mahishaasura with Her lower left hand. Food will be served on every Friday's.

The temple was always significantly popular. After the jeernodhara (renovation), it has been transformed into beautiful and spectacular temple. Except for garbh gruha, everything else is new. The granite flooring, pillars, wood work, electrification... everything is new. Despite being modern, every aspect of the past is retained. There is a strong vibe felt inside the temple to those who can perceive it. There is ample parking space. A new motorable road has come up.
