My visit to the Kadalekalu Ganesha in the ancient town of Hampi was a journey into the heart of art and spirituality. This colossal monolithic statue of Lord Ganesha is not only a testament to the architectural prowess of the Vijayanagara Empire but also a site that exudes an aura of reverence and wonder. The word Kadale Kalu means Cram seed in Kannada language. The tall slender pillar Chitrakhanda type of the mandapa are very well sculptored with the depictions of daily life of common man as well as various gods and goddess of Hindu pantheon. The pillars have early Vijayanagara pelipapodiga corbels. The temple is datable to c 16th century AD.
