A quick service South Indian food place. The restaurant used to be on the 1st floor and I used to visit this place in the 80s whene I lived in Kolkata. I went to the restaurant in my 2014 visit with my family and happy to get all the items that I used to get years ago. Its one of my places of choice for South indian food in Kolkata.
Present in one of the most posh areas of Kolkata, close to park street and just next to the US Consulate, Jyoti Vihar is perhaps one of the best place to have South Indian food. The place does not have prking facility for either 4 or 2 wheelers. The sitting space is also less for the popularity the restaurant boasts. The place would be jam packed if you visit in Lunch hours so if you are planning then go a little early. The place has delicious Idly, Dosa, Uttapam, etc served. There is also provision for Jain Food, that is they serve without onion, garlic or potato if requested. If you are in Kolkata and are looking for a South Indian food outlet, then Jyoti Vihar is your to go place.
There are many South Indian destinations in Kolkata but this is one worth to visit! Authentic South Indian taste at reasonable prices.

Dining at Jyoti Vihar transports me back in time to when I used to live here 25 years ago. The South Indian food here is nothing short of excellent. I tried their newest offering on the menu: a rava dosa containing onion, dhaniya, ghee, butter and green chillies, a truly magical culinary experience! A must visit to satisfy your idli, dosa, vada cravings. Tip: try and get here around noon for an early lunch before the crowds start at 1pm.
Good and tasty South Indian food. Overcrowded, service okay, ambience fine. One can come and dine here, but have to wait for sometime.
