Upon returning to the Marriott hotel after celebrating my wife's birthday, an unsettling encounter unfolded near the lift. A security guard, after checking our room number, insisted my wife's details weren't on the list, directing us to the check-in counter. Puzzled, I mentioned we had already provided both our IDs during the initial check-in, following standard protocol. Curiously, two foreign nationals proceeded past us without interruption. When I questioned the security personnel about this discrepancy, he asserted, "We stop only doubtful people." This incident left us with an overwhelming sense of discrimination and humiliation, an unprecedented experience compared to our stays at various properties across India. I have never felt this humiliated and discriminated in my life. On bringing this to notice of duty manager, all he did was trying to console us by telling its a standard protocol and the security head will meet us in the morning. Though I fail to understand how that would make any difference in terms of the experience we had. Thank you Mariott for making it a memorable stay.
