The park was closed due to covid restrictions but the locals take u there by backdoor. They are charging a lot of money. Do bargain. The waterfalls is very beautiful though there is less water during winter season. This is the ideal time for bathing here as the water is less nd not coming at a greater force. The area is well maintained by the govt. There are around 500 stairs as claimed by the local guide. We had gone here by a road leading us straight to the waterfall so we had to take much lesser amount of stairs (around 100-150 approx). It's a good spot for having picnic .
One of the falls which is actually safe when it comes to enjoy the waterfalls. You can cook food over here, or provide with cooking materials (Chicken) to locals and they will prepare it for you in lieu of some money. Great spot for photography. Stairs are annoying. When you move down its fine but when you climb back its really annoying.
The Jonha Falls is 40 kilometres from Ranchi. It is approachable by both road and train. Jonha Station is just 1.5 km from the fall. For travel by road, one has to take the Ranchi-Purulia Road and after travelling for about 32 km, one has to travel about 4.8 km ,off the main road. Situated at an edge of the Ranchi plateau, the Jonha Falls is an example of a hanging valley falls. The Gunga River hangs over its master stream, Raru River and forms the falls. One has to descend 722 steps to admire the surroundings.Water in the falls drops from a height of 141 ft. The Jonha Falls is an example of a nick point caused by rejuvenation. Knick point, also called a nick point or simply nick, represents breaks in slopes in the longitudinal profile of a river caused by rejuvenation. The break in channel gradient allows water to fall vertically giving rise to a waterfall.
It is one the best tourist place in Jharkhand. Beautiful view with ample space to enjoy with friends and family. It is one of the cleanest fall in Ranchi.
