Joet's Guest House - Guest house in Vasco da Gama, Bogmalo - South Goa, India

My favourite place for having dinner k. The weekend. Right on the beach. Friendly waiters , lovely service. The owners are excellent, and they always visit their customers on the tables and give them a VIP treatment.

I travelled with my 5 year old & the place is extremely good for a family visit. It's right on the beach. View from the room is superb & rooms are clean. Each room comes with a sitting area & a balcony so ample space for your child to run around. It's good for work too as hotel's wifi is strong. The restaurant offers Goan specials and good range of Indian & continental. Although little on a higher side, for the view & the quality of food you don't mind paying. Bogmallo Beach is clean & not over crowded. So overall it's a perfect experience even in the month of May.

Poor operating ac made the living room very uncomfortable. No microwave. Only first 2 bottles of water are free else they want u to pay for bottled water from minibar. Not a good value for money spent. I would suggest you head 15 km further south to Benaulim and rent an Airbnb at Lotus Hermitage for less than half the price with much more accessories and comfort. There are plenty of taxi drivers that can drop u off at the airport on time on same day of travel. They wait outside the gate of Lotus Hermitage and the neighboring Fairfield hotel and are many and easily accessible.

Very nice guesthouse, the view is fantastic and right in front of the beach. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. We only had many problems with WiFI, basically we couldn't use it for one week (except for one lucky day) - If you need the Internet mobile data I suggest to come here with a local SIM.

Excellent guest house with clean and spacious rooms with beach view. The staff is very helpful. The restaurant has a great menu, super ambience that serves yummy food with some live music with the magnificent view of the beach. A must visit place as very close to airport and less crowded. I had visited here in Sep 2022 and had a wonderful experience.

Stayed at Joet's Guest house during new year eve in 2018 with family. It was a wonderful 2-days stay. The beach in front was awesome. Very accessible. I almost felt like that this is a private beach. They also have a great restaurant below named 'Joet's Bar and Restaurant' where they offer great food and drinks. Staff were very supportive. You will love music which is played by experts at the dinner time. Have breakfast/lunch/dinner while watching sea was wonderful experience. I would love to visit again this place in future.

MYTH OR FACT - 1. Food is average - MYTH. Food is quite tasty and their Chicken Tikka is to die for! 2. Rude staff & owners - MYTH. I understand that lack of overly cheery smiles and pretend friendliness might make one think that staff and owners are rude, but in my 3 days stay, never once was a staff rude or disregarded our smallest of small request. 3. Food & drinks is highly priced - FACT. When you visit Joets, you pay for the experience and not for the food alone. Moreover, all good things come at a price! 4. Joets serves stale food - MYTH. We had all our 3 meals for 3 days in Joets and never once was our food served bad or stale or even cold!! We also witnessed them bringing fresh fishes which they caught right in front of the restaurant. It can't get fresher than that!!! 5. Staff & owners are nice to only foreigners and who tip well - MYTH. My husband and I are very much South Indians and we barely tipped anyone on our first day there and yet we were greeted and taken care warmly, like any other foreigner present there. Of course, some of these foreigners are Joets' regulars and come here every year and hence staff might be friendlier with them but it has nothing to do with the fact that they are foreigners. 6. Luggage is not allowed in Joets - FACT. This a rule Joets strictly follows. Unfortunately, they do not have a luggage room to solve this problem. They have limited space in the restaurant and even if guests at 3 to 4 tables came in with their luggage, it would become an uncomfortable situation for the other guests present there. So I understand their 'no luggage' policy. LOCATION - 1. Right on the beach, so it is apt for people travelling with little children, aged persons and physically handicapped. There are a few steps you need to descend to go to the beach, but for some reason you aren't able to climb down, you can request the staff to put up a sun bed for you near the restaurant. 2. It is just 12 mins away from Goa International Airport. 3. Located on a clean beach, which is not crowded like Baga or Calangute. AMBIENCE - 1. Though Joets is on the beach, it is more of a posh restaurant than a simple sea side shack. 2. You will be greeted with good music, great view and friendly faces when you visit Joets. FOOD - Some of the must-have dishes here - 1. Chicken Tikka (Moderately spicy and very very very well seasoned) 2. Veg Hakka Noodles 3. Malai Chicken Tikka (For people who don't like spicy food. My kids loved this) 4. Chicken Vindaloo with Steamed Rice 5. Dal Fry (It comes a little bland but you can add salt according to your taste) 6. Honey Chilli Potato (Very crispy and correctly spiced) 7. Cheesecake (It is rich textured and it comes with a bottom only cookie crust and this cookie crust is not overly salty like many other cheesecakes I have eaten) 8. Tiramisu STAFF - 1. When we reached there, the staff who greeted us was not outright cheerful and friendly. But he was very polite and courteous. After the first day, the staff and the owners had a smile for us whenever we were in the restaurant. 2. Housekeeping staff was courteous and greeted us every time she saw us. 3. Staff was highly efficient and managed a full house with ease. All our orders were in time and never delayed no matter how busy the restaurant was. Our food was always fresh and piping hot when it reached our table. 4. Once the tables very vacated, it only took a few seconds for the table to be clean and ready for the next guest. 5. All the staff were well groomed and dressed in fresh clothes always. OWNERS - Joets is run by a very hands on owners. Their constant presence on the premises shows their involvement in the day to day running of the business and perhaps, it might be one of the main reasons why Joets is doing so good and living up to the standards it proclaims. Attaching the picture of our bill, so that you guys don't end up thinking this is a paid review or I am one of the staff or family!!! Our stay and food for 3 days came up to around 35k.

The ambience is good. Location and view of the sea. We had prawns curry which was very basic and expensive. Novice will make better curry. Naans were very chewy. Go for the view and alcohol and not for food.
