Jawahar Burj - Tourist attraction in Bharatpur - Bharatpur, India

Good place to visit. Very neat and clean monument. It is a protected monument under Archiological Survey of India. It is near to Bharatpur Meuseum about 200 m far. You can enjoy scenic beauty of Lohagarh fort, Meuseum and Bharatpur town from here.

Originally, the Jawahar Burj was constructed by Maharaja Suraj Mal (A.D. 1756-63) but the structures over it were raised by Maharaja Jawahar Singh (A.D. 1764-68) in commemoration of his victory of Delhi. Three mandapas were erected here, one painted with epic scenes. An inscribed Iron pillar bearing genealogy was recently erected here by the ex-ruler Maharaja Brijendra Singh. An Ashtadhatu Gate was brought from Delhi by Maharaja Jawahar Singh in A.D. 1765 as a trophy.

Jawahar Burj (jvaahr burj) in Bharatpur was built by Suraj Mal in 1765, in celebration of the successful attack on Delhi. The coronation ceremony of the Jat rulers of Bharatpur was also held at the Jawahar Burj. Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj stand erect within the glorious ramparts of the Lohagarh Fort. This site was considered as a coronation site for all the Jat rulers. They were built by Maharaja Suraj Mal to commemorate his victories over the Mughals and British. These two places are considered as victory towers and, are decorated with deteriorating frescoes. It is different from the other forts in the state in that there is no flamboyance associated with the fort. However, it generates an aura of strength and magnificence.
