"The Public Restaurant ".. This restaurant in my hometown does not charge its customers. Instead, the customers can pay whatever they feel like or not pay at all. Apart from this, they serve free lunch to 300 old aged people everyday! In spite of all this, they have been able to break even in each of the 3 months they have operated! Kudos to #Snehajalakam #ngo for this brilliant venture. Expect simple homely food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They don't serve anything that is fried in oil.
The People's Restaurant, run by Snehajalakam (window of love) opens on Saturday, March 3rd, at 1230 in the afternoon. The restaurant is by the Alappuzha - Cherthala National Highway, near Pathirappally. If you are hungry, you can come and eat here. There won't be a cashier at the counter to settle your bill. Your conscience is the cashier. You can drop whatever amount you want to, kept at the box on the counter. Those who cannot afford to give anything can leave content, after a full meal. 'Eat as much as you want, give as much as you can' - this is the motto. On the walls of the restaurant are the art works of artists from the Harmony Art Group, Pathirappally. Savin Chandra, an activist of Snehajalakam has designed and supervised the construction of The People's Restuarant. Land for the restaurant was made available by A Raju, another activist of Senhajalakam. An organic farm has been set up in the 2.5 acre land adjacent to the restaurant, belonging to Sajeevan, to produce vegetables required for the restaurant. Those who come to dine here can also visit the farm and buy vegetables.
Operating abide by the slogan food for all. Serves homely food,no bill or price . No one ask you to pay for food u can put what you like to pay in a drop box kept there. If you have no money then you can leave without pay, nobody force you. Average in neatness Limited items available Tasty meals with specials It is a charitable organisation they supplies food to hospital, poor people. Hence whatever you pay here goes to this charity fund.
A humane initiative for the people who need food but can't afford it. There is no cashier or bill here. One can contribute whatever s/he likes to donate for the next one who is coming to have food. The dining area is neat and tidy. There are seperate washrooms for gents and ladies. The kitchen is well equipped and modern. The vegetables come from their own Farm and the food wastes go back as manure.
Why there's only 5 ratings available!!! This restaurant is the only one a kind in Kerala that I've seen. We see many places providing free food and stuffs. All are good but something related to a minister which started a new revolution in Alappuzha by giving free food to the needy and anyone who gets in. Its unlike any ithe hotels as this one has no cashier. Only a BOX where you can put whatever money u can; be it Rs1 or Rs1000 ; all are accepted. You can just walk in like any other restaurant and can take a plate and eat what you want just like what you do at your home. Unlike many untidy disordered restaurants wich serves bad food, this one is really neat and doesn't feel like they are providing food for the needful only and have an upper floor with TV and music as well. You can take all you want to eat but please don't waste the food as the restaurant's whole purpose is eliminating hunger poverty and generate a hunger free state slowly. Best wishes for the people supporting this huge initiative and wishing more like this in every part of the state and everywhere to free the world from hunger poverty.
Since it is Covid19, the restaurant is not functional. But the kitchen is fullly operational and supplying food to people in quarantine 3 times a day. A good initiative and very helpful for needy.
One of the best ideology to serve the food to others in low cost and best quality. The effort behind the successful of this enterprise is remarkable.
Amazing job keep rock.., Only I support Those who are not wishing to eat (Very Poor people& Aged..,

The fish thali here is on a different level (I'm still dreaming about the fried fish). Super generous portion with a variety of veg and fish curries. Not sure what they do differently here but it tastes incredible!
Good for students and bachelors. Do not expect a proper dining area. The place operates from a house. The food is super cheap, tasty and fresh (especially the fish and clams).
