This Greco-Roman structure was built by Maharaja Jagatjit Singh for his wife, Anita Delgado, a Spanish woman. After her death, he married Eugenia Marie Grossupova, a Czech Countess and an actress. The board says Jagatjit Club, but it looks abandoned now.
This particular building which is known as Jagatjit Club is a building that is reminiscent of Greek architecture, with its long columns that adorn the facade of the building. It is currently a club. However, history has it that it used to be a church in its original intent and purpose. It is believed to have been built for one of the queens of the royalty.
Royal building ..nice area to look and have some pictures ..inside the club is not allowed to non members...it has wooden tennis court .the club looks really amazing when lit up during night
Historical place, architecture rich value.
Kapurthala is a city in Punjab state of India. It is the administrative headquarters of Kapurthala. It was the capital of the Kapurthala State (ruled by Ahluwalia Dynasty), a princely state in British India. The secular and aesthetic mix of the city with its prominent buildings based on French and Indo-Saracenic architecture self-narrate its princely past. It is also known as city of Palaces & Gardens. According to the 2011 Census, Kapurthala is the least populated city in India.
Nice Example of good Architect. Built on Mall Road, A good locality of Kapurthala. But needs some maintenance & renovation.
