Overhyped place to eat Bengali lunch. Food was not upto the mark as per its price . I found it tasteless .. Food was cold. Fish was over fried. I didn't like it .
Jagannath Hotel in college street near Adi Mohini Mohan Kanjilal is very good hotel for lunch and dinner etc. Today We visited this hotel for lunch and we really enjoyed lunch here. Chicken thali is Rs.160 and fish is Rs.160 too. Extra chicken Rs.130 for medium piece of chicken. For us, for two people it costa Rs.450/- we had Pui Saak, Dal & Bhaja, Chicken Or fish. Chatni at the end. And yes rice is unlimited.

Heard a lot about the restaurant from my mates and thus had to try it out myself!
The only fault I made was I arrived late in the night. They had only one type of fish left with them (that was 'Charapona' as known locally)
But was really overwhelmed by the taste!

A pure Bengali hotel. I found this for my dad , who came here before more than 20years. At first we can't believe on my dad. But seriously it was amaging that there was so good quality of food. And all the normal Bengali item.
I took a veg thali there. The food was cold, everything - dal, rice, fry, shukto. That shukto was an abomination for the name. So much oil and spice. That should be called macher jhol.
The behaviour of the man at the counter is good though.

I really love this place. This hotel is in central kolkata. Near college street more. I promise you u will never find better mid-budget hotel than Jagannath Hotel. I had visited it very often. I specifically went there for jhirijhiri fries. The fish here also served very good. Fine basmati rice, tasty vegetables,spicy dal-- what else you can wish for . So if you ever come to college street after all this corona situation, do visit it once. You will love it.
