Institute Of Child Health and Hospital for Children - Government hospital in Chennai - Chennai, India

This is about Egmore Gov. children hospital.. I know they are providing treatment to lot many kids and it is appreciated but the way they treat people is not something expected. Just go through the pics and pointers below to understand the situation of people going there.. 1. Only mother and child are allowed inside the ward. I seriously dont understand how can a mother with 5 or 10 months old unwell baby manage all chores. She cant even go to washroom leaving the baby on the bed. Father or attender of the baby has to wait outside of the block and if she needs any help, you will have to run all the way from ground floor to ward( 1 to 8 floor). 2. Doctors and sisters are not friendly in nature. By seeing their grimmed faces, you will think twice to reach out to them or ask for any clarification. 3. If you are enough talented, find one friendly doctor among the doctors group and follow up closely with them to understand your baby situation. 4. You know what - this one instance shocked me - I have seen hospitals where doctor visit all the patients bed by bed or room by room to check them. But here, in the ward, mothers have to lined up by carrying their babies at the doctor's table for check up. 5. Each ward has a bigg hall or lift area - However, attenders are not allowed to stay there and sleep there. See the situation of attendees in the pics below. They have to sleep on pavements or on the road; how band it is. The hospital rule is that if it is raining, then attendees are allowed to stay or sleep in hall area. Otherwise outside. This rule is strictly followed. 6. Washrooms - each ward had one washroom for babies and mothers - but it will not have continuous water supply. You have to manage with water bottles if it is urgent or run to common washroom at the ground floor. This washroom in the ground floor, just one washroom (for full hospital) and you can see the situation of the washroom in pics below. 7. No drinking water facility is the hospital - you have to manage on your own; 8. The security/cleaning/support manpower here, they are pathetic. They behave as if they own this hospital. 9. Only available options for food is Amma mess and only available option for coffee and tea is Aavin store. After all these, this hospital is HEAVEN and these doctors are GODS for so many people who depend on them of their kids health. I have heard stories of couple of people who are staying here for more than a month for their babies treatment. God, please give them the strength.

Very worst and most pathetic service from doctors, nurses, and administrators. I went there for my kid's surgery because a senior pediatrician who is having a private clinic outside has advised us to undergo the surgery there under his supervision. Only Pros - Patient rooms are clean Cons - You need wander for everything. 1. First you need a buy a notebook outside for patient records. Even surgery summary is hand-written and given on paper. Our esteemed government (both State and central) charging GST for everything. They do not even have money to buy a printer for printing discharge summary.. Very bad. 2. For scan/xray, you need to be in Q and wait for 3-4 hours. 3. Toilets outside the patient room were maintained in poor condition and they did not even clean it regularly. You will get all other diseases by going there for taking treatment. On top of all - If you ask for any advise or next step about the treatment from NURSE or FEW DOCTORS, They do not even respond and do their work ignoring us. Let me ask a question to all of them - ARE THEY DOING SOCIAL SERVICE? NO. Certainly not - They still get government salary. What is wrong with them ? What is stopping them to respond if a patient needs direction or proper clarification ? My Suggestion - Even if your financial situation is bad and if you are planning to take treatment here..... Please avoid because the end solution which they provide is a question mark. Because they do not even respond properly.... After seeing all this inhuman treatment, I took my kid to Apollo and got cure. Again, I am not recommending or promoting any hospitals here. Please be aware of the treatment wherever you go and then decide. First choose the right doctor and then go for the treatment. We did not get the cure even after the surgery in Egmore children hospital. Doctors said it needs repeated surgery. But that is not the case, when I checked with senior pediatrician in Apollo. So knowledge of doctors in Egmore children hospital is again a question mark...

Yes it's government hospital. Atleast know their duty and responsibility. The sweepers are act as nurse. They are treat the patients and their parents very worse manner. They don't give atleat minimum respectbil words . , ai po, dei inga vada, unakku arivu irukka illaya?. Even practising medical students behaving well . But the sweepers are very arrogant. I visited this place more than 10 times. One more thing walking time 8.00am-10.00am as they mentioned. But , the doctors not available upto 9 o clock. I planned give petition to respective persons but there is no option .

Best hospital for children and having best facilities.. great initiative from TN govt.. But arrogant behavior from lab technician and other staff coordinate the patients. There is a huge delay in x-ray delivery. Someone should monitor all these and take necessary action on it.. All the facilities are going in vein because of the poor work and staff behavior.. Please look into it

Tertiary care hospital for children. Patients are referred from all over Tamil Nadu and neighboring states. Part of Madras Medical College. Has MD Pediatrics, DCh, DM Neonatology, MCh Pediatric surgery courses. The only centre in India with 8 DM Neonatology seats per year. Has all Pediatric specialities like Pediatric surgery, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric nephrology, Pediatric hemato-oncology, Pediatric Gastrology, Endocrinology, genetics, dermatology, ENT, Child Development Clinic, Child Guidance Clinic, Physiotherapy clinic, Speech therapy clinic etc. Hearing assessment is also done here. PICU and NICU are well equipped with latest instruments. NICU has high frequency ventilators and other modern equipments. Pediatric emergency department and Neonatal Emergency department are taken care by well trained specialists and nursing staff 24x7. Treatment is absolutely free for everyone in this hospital. For the benefit of patients and their attenders, there's an 'Amma Canteen' in the campus. Post graduates and other trainees from all over India come for observership here. Radiology facilities like CT, MRI are also available here. The new OPD building has a modern infrastructure catering to the need of thousands of out-patients who visit each day. ICH is in Egmore, and is easily accessible by road and train. Government 108 Ambulances are stationed in ICH, including Neonatal ambulances. These ambulances have well trained paramedics, who stabilize children from referring hospitals and during transport. Despite the heavy rush of patients every day, far beyond imagination, ICH is doing a remarkable job in improving child health.

Best hospital for children and new born.. people come different places all of TN...but nurses and security rude and do not respect patient's parents and attenders.. 24 hrs emergency Available..all tests and lab facilities available at free of cost..hats off for who initiated this service..great effort by TN govt

This place has saved my both babies by grace of Almighty. Thank u Doctors,Nurses,staffs im always greatfull to this place. I would Highly recommend this hospital for babies and Mom. They are doing great treatment

Hospital is maintained well. But there is no parking for visitors which needs to be improved. Patient number is high and it's so crowded . Need to implement proper Crowed maintanence token system to systemically patient maintanence
