As an Infant Jesus alumni I have seen the church evolve from its old Portuguese version to its new one. The old church had a historic charm and had good bones. Although the renovation took many years, the upgrade was phenomenal. The dome height and the glass painting brings in a lot of light with colours. The woodwork and the wall art brings out the craftsmanship of the designer. This church should be a tourist destination considering it's historic relevance.

Best place for worship in town for christians ...they have the best choir team in town..The Infant Jesus Cathedral is a historic latin catholic church established by Portuguese during 1614, situated at Tangasseri in the city of quilon(kollam) India. It is now the cathedral i.e the Seat of the bishop of roman catholic diocese of kollam, the ancient and first catholic diocese of India. The Church remains as a memento of the portugese rule of old Quilon city..The history of Infant Jesus Cathedral dates back to 1503 when Tangasseri came under the control of the Portuguese. The Portuguese who came to Quilon in 1503 led by alphose made Tangasseri a well fortified city by building a fort, which was called Fortaleza da Sao Tome(Saint Francis xavier established a church, a college(Sao Salvador College), a printing press(Sao Salvador seminary Press), and a religious study centre at Tangasseri during his visits in 1544 and 1549. In 1614, the Portuguese established the Infant Jesus church in its present location.

Probably only place in Kollam, where Sunday evening Holy mass is in English @ 5PM...Highly advised for tourists and people from outside states who prefers to attend Sunday Holy mass in English.

Nice church, good atmosphere. Spacious. with Beautiful Altar

Beautiful Church! Large seating space so you can always find a seat to hear the Holy Mass. Had a beautiful midnight English Service this Christmas. The Sunday evening Mass too is in English while the one in the morning is in Malayalam. The only problem would be finding a parking spot close to the Church especially if you're just on time for Mass!
